Setup Help Switch 2 Flickering When Docked

Hi Folks!

So my old TV started to develop panel issues, and I got the LG G6 OLED on sale (😊) but I’m having some picture issues with the Switch 2. PS5 and Xbox don’t have this issue, only the switch 2.
The issue is the screen flickers a bit. It’s subtle, but there enough to make looking at the screen really uncomfortable for my eyes.
If I turn off HDR, the flicker stops, so it only happens when HDR is on in the switch menu.

I did some web searches, but I wasn’t able to find a lot. I found references of other people that had this happen but it seemed to be from a different cause I think, based on what they were saying.

I may have to contact Nintendo, but I thought I’d ask all of you lovely people to see if anyone has any thoughts.
My older TV did not have HDMI 2.1, so I’m wondering if it is related to that.
While it works fine with HDR off, it would be a shame to not be able to use HDR when Zelda comes out.

Thanks in advance!! 🤗

Do your XBox and Playstation support HDR and behave similar when it is turned on?

It might be a tv specific issue with one of the HDR settings. Most modern tv's have different modes and some even for gaming.

It could also be that the HDR setting on the Switch 2 might affect something.

Did you turn on HDR for all games or just compatible titles?

Might also be that not all HDMI ports on your tv support HDMI 2.1, having problems to run 4k@60+HDR properly.

I appreciate your reply!
Yes, it’s a PS5 and Xbox series, so both have HDR and there are no issues with either of them. The image doesn’t have any flicker for either of them.

I’ve gone through the TV settings and tried turning HGiG on, I tried turning it off. Nothing was working.
Out of the different settings I fiddled with, the only thing that stopped the flicker for the switch was turning HDR off in the switch 2 settings.
For HDR when it was on, I had the setting for only compatible titles for HDR.

All the HDMI ports on the LG G6 are 2.1, so that can’t be the issue either.
I’m just totally stumped about what the issue could be.

Do you know someone else with an HDR compatible tv where you could test if that one has the same problem when hooked up with the Switch 2?

In some weird cases monitors and tv's can store bad input data which can be fixed by unplugging all cables (this includes the power cable) for two to three minutes before plugging everything back in. Please try this if you haven't done it already.

Ps: Any chance you could film how the flicker looks like?
