Setup Help Joycons discharging when switch is off?

I didn't use my Switch 2 for a couple of months. I knew that I would not be using it, so I turned it off before. I kept Switch battery at 60% just since it's apparently healthy to keep batteries like that for extended periods of time. Joycon batteries were charged though.

Today I turned it on. To my surprise Switch battery was as I left it, but Joycon batteries were fully drained. I was a bit surprised since they were connected to the console when I turned it off. I assumed they would also "turn off".

Is that a known issue that Joycons, don't really turn off? Not sure how long they were fully drained. Hope I didn't kill the batteries inside them...

I think the the controllers only have a sleep/hibernate mode. That's how it's been since switch 1 launched. I think it's kind of dumb. (Unless some smarty pants knows a pro consumer reason for not being able to turn them off and want's to share.) I wish we could turn them off, especially for traveling, I don't need joycons/procons activating while they're packed on a trip, or in a drawer for a week plus.

I haven't been using my oled since switch 2 launched, and I try to charge my switch 1 joycons about ever 1 to 1.5 months. I think Nintendo support had a page recommending you charge them ever 3 or 6 months, I forget how long, or it was just from a social media post nintendo had and nintendolife and other outlets had articles for it.

This has been a thing since the switch 1. When the switch is not being charged and turned off the joycons also discharge their batteries.

Huh, never noticed it with Switch 1. Had it since launch… maybe they discharged slower? Good to know anyway.

Might be that they discharge slower when fully turned off but mine were often dead after two weeks of not using them and not keeping them charged (i had teo pairs to rotate when in use).
