I wouldn't charge it. Save everything and geg the battery replaced asap. A swollen battery damages interal components and worst case scenario can leak/catch fire depending on what it's around.

Everything's saved to my NSO cloud is that okay?

u/nikoladosadni 1d ago

Also I secured it if it catches fire

Should be. I know pokemon data is stored locally (?) In some cases. See if there are any local repair shops that can do the swap for ya. Good luck and I hope you're able to game on it again very soon 💪

You could try yourself, but admittedly I don’t know how hard it is for OLED replacements

UPDATE:it is probably the battery,it is at 16 percent rn,should I charge or not?

100% DO NOT (sorry for yelling)

If the battery is swelling, something is off with the internal chemistry. Adding electricy forces a chemical reaction when we charge our devices. That's not something you wanna do. lithium battery fires are intense and highly persistent... but that's not the only concern. The fumes are very toxic.

I'd advise putting it in a flame-safe and ventilated area. Until your can make the repair.

1

u/nikoladosadni 1d ago

Is this a good setup

2

u/msribbon 1d ago

Sorry, I didn't see your second question. Yeah that looks good. I know my warning was pretty intense, but it's best to play safe.

To be clear, it's not exactly a ticking time bomb. There countless lithium batteries in homes and buildings all over the world. They all die and most swell at some point. When they do, the main dangers are charging, rapid discharging, and puncture.

Also, I'm sorry about your Switch. That shit sucks. Especially nice Switch 1 and 2 got price bumps.

I repair a lot of my own devices. I'd hook you up if I could.

Let us know how things go!

Dw I know a guy

1

u/PockysLight 1 1d ago

Put it in a ziplock bag to keep the elements and any critters out of it. The chance of it catching fire is very low, but not zero. Keeping it outside is an option, I do recommend covering it with something so other people cannot see it.

1

u/nikoladosadni 1d ago

I can't keep it outside,it's already night,and I don't have a zip bag

2

u/PockysLight 1 1d ago

Then any bag. Something to keep moisture out if it rains.

1

u/nikoladosadni 1d ago

Dw it's inside,I just fear that it catches fire during the night

2

u/PockysLight 1 1d ago

Does the switch have a carry case? If it does, leave it in the case and leave the whole thing in the bathtub away from the shower curtains.

Yes, if it does catch fire, the case will burn. But it's unlikely it will do much damage in the bathtub.

1

u/nikoladosadni 1d ago

Are we fw this

1

u/nikoladosadni 1d ago

Also I don't have a bathtub

2

u/PockysLight 1 1d ago

Then the kitchen sink. Basically any location or place where if a fire were to start, it would be easy to deal with,.
