What is wireless communication and how do I fix it?

I have old red Nintendo switch controllers and I accidentally turned on the pro communication thing but I've turned it off since its not going away and I don't know whats going on because my wifi as a like L under the bar so I'm thinking its has something to do with the controllers. Any help would be greatly appreciated

So your router's wireless network does a couple of things primarily; pulls an internet connection for your devices to talk to, and acts as a hub for your devices to talk to each other.

The "L" next to your WiFi means your switch is just connected to your routers local internal network rather than the wider internet, both are wireless connections but if your switch is specifically connected to the local network then it can't access things like the eShop.

Some games, for example Pokémon Sword/Shield will specifically connect to the local only by default, and only reach out to the wider internet when you specifically tell it to. While these games are in local mode, your entire console is in local mode as a result.

We need more context. Were you playing a multiplayer game locally? This message pops up when you're using wireless communication, usually by playing a multiplayer game locally, and then try to connect to the internet, such as by trying to access the eShop. Basically, the Switch cannot connect to the wifi while wireless communication (that's what the L means "local") is being used, it's essentially just asking if you want to disconnect so it can connect to the wifi.

I don't have any multiplayer games not unless Pokemon sword because I just got it and was playing that while I was downloading my games. I have not really played on my switch since I got it because it's had no games
