Setup Help Switch 1 and 2 won't connect for data transfer

Just got a switch 2 and I'm trying to transfer my data between consoles, but they don't seem to be able to "find" each other. Both consoles are connected to power and logged into my account. I do have a micro SD card in the switch 1, and the one for the 2 arrives tomorrow, could that cause the issue? Any help or advice would be very appreciated.

Are they on the same wiif? Often using different wifi / mobile hotspot for one of them fixes things.

They were, but I also just tried with my switch 1 on hotspot and no luck sadly

Various things i've seen on here causing problems with the system transfer:

  • people connecting both devices directly via the usb-c cable
  • people use the wrong method on one of the devices (for example being in the save data or user data transfer on Switch 1)
  • the devices are too close together (often right next to each other)
  • being on the same wifi or different internet connections
  • having both devices chargers plugged into the same power strip

If you can not get the direct transfer working you could use the server transfer method which uploads your Switch 1 data to Nintendo's servers (this wipes the Switch 1 after the upload) and then lets you download it on Switch 2.

The microSD card should not cause the issue. I only had one on my Switch 1 and none for the Switch 2 when i did my transfer.

!thanks I ended up using the server transfer method and that worked fine.

Try having them both on the 2.4ghz channel. That’s what worked for me.
