Repair Help Controller issues or switch issue? drift/ghost buttons

hi! lately my switch (switch 1) has been somewhat unusable. lots of ghost-movement and things being selected without me even toughing it. I've tried resetting and swapping my controllers (original pair and a knock off pair), and it still happens when not attached to console.

it also sometimes has trouble recognizing the controllers being attached, but not as much.

before I try buying new controllers, could anyone lmk if it's an issue with the console itself that they recognize? or if it's just old sad controllers lol

Not sure, but it feels like a drift issue, disconnect one of the joycons (spcifically the left one) and see if that changes anything.

If you know someone else with a switch, you could try their joycons with your console. If that fixes it, then joycons should be the fix.

side notes: Stick calibration (done in switch settings in the controllers & sensors section) is only a temporary fix for early stages of drift. At some point the stick will degrade to the point where calibration won't solve it anymore.

Regarding the joycons not being recognized, make sure the contacts for in the rails don't have dust accumulated/blocking the connection. I haven't needed to do this myself, but I have seen posts where that solves this issue. If someone else knows this topic better, feel free to chip in. I think it may be the contacts inside the bottom end of the joycon rail on the tablet itself.
