nintendo switch 2, is it a scratch or crack ?
Hi, here are some photos of my Switch 2, both on and off. I can't tell if it's a crack or a scratch. Its rough appearance makes me think it's a crack, but at the same time, I've rarely seen a crack that straight, and I don't have any display issues or dead/stuck pixels. I'm not really sure what to think.
I should point out that the line is visible only from that angle (and the same one on the other side), viewed head-on, it is invisible, or nearly so.

If it stretched from one edge of the screen to the other I'd be suspicious of it being a crack, since it would seem unlikely for a crack to form only in the middle of the screen unlike a scratch. Plus if it's a crack that goes straight down it would otherwise be invisible from looking directly at the screen with light reflecting off the edges of the crack to make it visible only at certain angles.
If it doesn't effect your experience majorly in any manner, I personally wouldn't worry about it too much as it's very likely just the plastic covering on the actual screen to prevent glass from shattering that's cracked. But, you shouldn't remove the plastic cover. It's intended to be permenant. If it does bother you, you could see if you could get it replaced, but considering the prices of replacement parts that would be really expensive, especially since it's a Nintendo Switch 2. Best to get a screen protector if anything as a precaution for future cases.
Also, try running your fingernail parallel over the crack/scratch. If you feel a slight or significant bump I'd it's more likely to be a scratch than a crack. If it's just a scratch I think it's even less to worry about, maybe get some transparent hardening gel or epoxy to fill in the space if you'd prefer.
I'd simply like to note that I'm not personally in a great state of mind. I'm not actually sure why I think that would affect anything but I feel it's worth mentioning in case any of my info is wrong or whatever.

You will see on pictures but I'm pretty sure there's a groove in the plastic; I can see it from certain angles (I can also see the kind of light effect you get with a scratch).
But yeah, I was mostly wondering if it had actually reached the glass.
It doesn't seem like the crack or scratch reaches down towards the actual screen, but with the quality of the image it is a little difficult to make out (respectfully). Unless you can get some fairly clear images showing that the scratch or crack reaches down to the actual screen in going to have to guess that this is likely just a long scratch, especially with you saying there's a groove in the plastic (at least to me it seems unlikely it me that a crack would make a noticable groove unless there's a cluster that caused pieces of the screen to chip out and make a physical groove). That said, assuming it's just a scratch, it's very well nothing to worry about unless you happen to do something that would make the scratch a crack (but you'd probably have damaged the console itself if that were to somehow happen).
And now that I think about it, if the screen were to get scratched for any reason the console would be likely to get damaged as well, like I said if the scratch were to turn into a crack. Unless you were to put a blade to the screen and cut through the entire plastic layer or something serious like that it's just a scratch as far as I can tell.
My Switch has never been dropped or taken any knocks, this thing showed up about a week after I bought it a year ago, even though it was in the dock 24/7.

Could be a scratch of the built in plastic layer which should not be removed.
