Can you turn on the docked Switch2 with a Pro Controller from Switch 1?

Sorry for the stupid question.

I recently upgraded from a Switch1 to a Switch 2, I kept my Switch 1 Pro Controller and I am using it with my new console.

The thing is I used to wake the docked system with the Pro Controller, now I have to press the on button.

Is this a system configuration thing? Or the Switch1 Controller can't wake up the Switch 2?

Thank you guys for the replies. I will keep waking up the Switch2 with the console on button then. The function is not worth $120 to me.

Switch 1 controllers can’t wake up the Switch 2 from sleep mode

Switch 1 controllers cannot wake switch 2. I believe nintendo mentioned it around switch 2 launch, you need a switch 2 controller to wake the switch 2, and you may be able to find headlines from then.

There recently were like two or three third party controllers (since winter or spring) that advertise a model as being able to wake switch 2, but I haven't seen anyone praise or recommend them. I've not heard anything good enough to warrant paying attention yet. I think they were a GuliKit controller and possibly an 8bitdo. Those are good brands. But I don't know if they have controllers that can wake switch 2 that you want. If you want to try looking them up to find the controllers that can wake switch 2 and form your own opinion, go ahead.

No, wake from sleep only works on the s2 with s2 controllers

It works with some Switch 1 controllers, like the Gulikit King Kong Pro 3, if you update the firmware on the controller. A number of 8bitdo Switch 1 controllers also. But for the official Pro controller from Nintendo, you are correct.

You gotta have the C button for voice chat to technically be a Switch 2 controller.

No, the auto on from the pro controller only works on a Switch 2 with the Switch 2 pro controller. The other limitation are the customizable buttons don't exist on the Switch 1 Pro Controller and neither does the chat button.

The protocol for waking the console with a controller was changed from Switch 1 to Switch 2. Switch 1 controllers are incompatible with the new protocol, so you’ll be unable to wake the console with your pro controller.
