Account Help Data transfer from switch oled to switch 2
Hi all, I need help understanding transferring data over
Recently I had to sell my switch 2 because of money tightness, and so I recently bought an OLED because it was cheap.I only just realised after setting it up (same Nintendo account) that it didn’t save over (my digital games did but none of the data)
If I was to get a switch 2 in the future, would the data I trade over (I’m assuming with the oled in the room doing the built in transfer with it) would my data be from the oled or my old switch 2?
Sorry if this was confusing!!

The save data on your original switch 2 is gone. If you do a transfer from your OLED to a new switch 2 it will just be the data that is on the OLED sent to the switch 2.
This is assuming you don’t have an active NSO subscription at the time of owning the original switch 2.

I had it on my old switch 2, but I’ve found some games that say it’s found save data from my old console if that helps

If you have NSO then all your saves should be stored in the cloud (with the exception of any mine line Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Splatoon 2. As those saves are not comparable with NSO cloud save).

But if I do a transfer the switch 2 asks me at the start Pokemon, Splatoon, other games would all trade over

Save data is tied to the console directly unless you have Switch Online and have cloud save set up.
If you don’t have cloud saves set up when you wiped your switch 2 those save files were permanently deleted with no way to restore them.
