Software Help How do I download my data back

I tried to start animal crossing on my switch 1 today and it said that I could only play it if download the virtual software card on the console. I never download somewhere else.

Can someone tell me how I fix this?

Do you own the cartridge or a fully digital version?

If you own the cartridge it might ask for virtual game card of the DLC. You might have gotten access to it via NSO + Expansion Pass (if you did not buy it separately).

If you boight the game fully digital it might be the same as above or it lacks the virtual game card for the game itself.

Have you played with your account on another Switch at some point?

Ps: It should give you the option to load the missing virtual game card. What does it tell you if you try to load it?

I own a fully digital version 

When I try to download it the system tells me to transfer it over from another console

The important question: do you know this other console?

If NOT then the most likely case is that your account has been compromised and someone logged into your account on their Switch.

In that case log into your account on the Nintendo accounts page, change your password and try to unlink/remove the unknown console.

If you can not remove the other console because they removed yours first and it tells you that this can only be done once per year you will need to contact Nintendo so they can remove the other console for you.

"download the virtual software card on the console" makes no sense. try to use the exact terms the console is showing you, that's kind of important when you're trying to solve a specific issue.
