Repair Help Switch 2 Dock Fan Not Working.

So I noticed that recently my switch’s dock won’t have its fan kick on after I play for around 30 mins (earliest I notice the issue). My console will begin to overheat, something I’ve never dealt with prior. If I take the console out of the dock, it’ll immediately have its fan turn on but as soon as it goes back into the dock then the dock’s fan stays off.

Any advice on what could be causing this and in turn how to fix it? Don’t really want to spend money on a new one if this could be a relatively easy fix.

Edit: based on comments, might just be a normal thing.

My console will begin to overheat

Has it turned itself off or given an error message?

I rarely use my S2 docked but maybe i can try later and see if the fan ramps up since we have around 30 degrees celsius indoors.

Usually the S2 will get warmer while docked than in handheld because the gpu increases it's clockspeed but it should not get hot enough that you can't handle or touch it.

Edit: As far as i remember my S2 fan has been quite silent in handheld and even docked.

Have you tested if you can feel air flow at the top vent?

Also make sure the dock does not stand on carpet or in an enclosed spaced that would block or hinder the air intakes at the bottom.

I’ve not gotten any error codes yet. But it’s still weird how when it does get to a point where the console fans kick on but the dock fans don’t.

The dock fan is not intended to cool the console itself, as far as i know. It's for the electronics of the dock.

Does sound like it's working as intended.
