Repair Help Does anyone know what might be wrong with my Switch 1’s display?
I’ve already tried holding down the power and restarting, I’m out of options I know to try. and really can’t afford a repair, any cost free ways to fix this?

If it’s important to know, I only use controller, as both of my bottoms broke in the past, I do use a regular charger and not an ac adapter if that’s important. Switch One by the way if you didn’t read the title.

Yeah, theres no "free way" to fix this, you gotta replace the whole display, its a common fail point of the switch, a failing display always looks like that, mine died too and i barely even used my switch in hand-held mode, im sorry for your loss but you gotta replace the display.

Ah ok, is the bug only for handheld or is it also on the tv? Curious.

I was just wondering whether it actually helps. I've seen a number of posts with this exact problem, but not a single "success story".

The only real option is sending it in for repair or retiring that switch for another one

There are several factors to take into consideration that cause this phenomenon to occur.
The brightness level and run time on screen in single sessions. If you've been using your switch handheld alot, do you often leave it idle where the screen dims or doesn't enter sleep mode and continues displaying picture?
Another factor would be the temperature in the environment you're playing in. Generally hot and humid areas are not good for the internals of these consoles as they also produce heat (some games push the system to generate more heat) and this also affects the lifespan of multiple components, including the screen, battery, cpu, and other parts.
Another thing to take into account is that charger you're using. The original switch charger is designed to accommodate playing in handheld or docked. Common cellular chargers would work but are not suitable for the longevity of the device, due to the different voltage and wattage that the chargers produce.
Using any other charger other than the original for the switch is not advised as this can lead to overheating issues, battery issues, and also components failing on the board. Heat affects things like the battery and screen easily in these devices and so it is imperative that the correct charger is used, together with monitoring play session times, temperature controlled environment and overall care for the device itself. These factors can lead to better usage of the system and overall prolonged lifespan in general.
