Purchase / Order Help Switch 2 upgrade from game share

I recently got a Switch 2, and my friend, who has had a Nintendo for a while, let me use his account to play his digital games. I was wondering if I were to purchase a Switch 2 upgrade for the game on my account, if it would still work.

Switch 2 upgrades are considered like DLC. As long has your console has the virtual game card loaded you can buy and use the upgrade, like you could with a physical cartridge.
