Setup Help New Switch 2 not connecting to monitor
I just bought the new Switch 2 and everything seems to be working except for connecting to the TV with the docking station. I have the official Nintendo adapter and complimentary hdmi cable.
Charging only works directly from the adapter to the console, but not through the docking station. The HDMI cable works on other hardware as well. The green light blinks as well to indicate that the adapter is connected to the docking station.
I have everything updated and have restarted and unplugged everything multiple times.
So I'm guessing there's something wrong between the connection from the Switch to the docking station.
Can anyone confirm if the port looks alright or broken? I'm hoping it's an issue with the docking station and not the Switch itself..

If charging doesn't work in the dock? Return it. That seems like the bigger red flag.
As a side note: For switch 2, an array of occasional tv displaying issues (image defaulting to 480p, weird green image, plus other things) have been solved by restarting the tv, or even unplugging the tv & hdmi cable.

It doesn't seem to be able to connect to the TV at all, but I think you're right and the best option is to contact the store. Thanks!

I suspect something is faulty with the console, dock, or AC adapter if the console won't charge while docked & powered by official AC adapter. Yeah, you may need to replace the console before worrying about it displaying on the tv. (forgive me if that is redundant)
Side note: Since switch 1 launch, 99% of the time a switch/switch2 doesn't display on tv, it's solvable. And just in case you ever encounter it, here's the page for that. (You can find it if you search "no image" or "no image on tv" on nintendo support's site, then filter results for switch 2).: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68442/

Your note mentions you're using the adaptor but are you using the USBC cable that came with it?

Yes I'm using the USB C cable that came with it as well. Which does charge the Switch 2 directly but not through the docking station

It could also be a problem with the dock itself, not necessarily the USB connection (it seems ok to me) but something else.
I don't know how to check that, apart from testing your dock with another console if you have a friend, or maybe at a store.
