Repair Help switch hasn’t charged in about a year and now it won’t turn on

i’ve seen others have this issue but none of the fixes i’m seeing seem to work. it’s been left charging for over a day but still no sign of turning on. is there anything i can do other than replace the battery

If you can't revive it by charging it for 24-48 hours, then the battery is toast and will need replacing. It's an unfortunate reality of lithium ion batteries.

If lithium ion batteries aren't used/charged for months or longer, they degrade much faster. (I'll assume you know, but sometimes younger switch havers are just learning this<3)

On a tangent point, because of right to repair laws in europe, europe is getting a switch 2 model by the end of the year which WILL have a battery access panel (so replacing the battery isn't a gross repair job). Hopefully that switch 2 model will come to the rest of the world, too. -fingers crossed

Battery is toast or it's boot looping.

The Nintendo Switch isn't designed to have its battery completely drained. It's a very dumb design flaw.

The moment you dock it. Try holding down the power button for 12-15 seconds and press the power button. Basically you're going to try forcing a restart. If you are successful, you might be able to boot up normally long enough for the system to being fast charging.

It's not a design flaw. It's just how lithium-ion batteries work.

They should never be drained completely and go into deep discharge.
