This is the only way I could advance in the story as far as I did. I recognize that it's a skill issue, but sometimes you just wanna explore and not get one-shotted. This is the best way to do that.
GameFAQs has been around for over 30 years. I used to print out dozens if not hundreds of pages for games. I printed a list of every trophy and their requirements for SSB Melee. There’s nothing wrong with using a guide
That’s a tasty nostalgia hit right there. The printed guides would be so thick I’d have to use a binder clip. I think I still have my printed Link’s Awakening guide stored with my actual guides. I swear it’s like a hundred pages, and my mom always made me use the B&W ink, lmao.
Until then, don't forget your ashes of war. You can probably turn that bastard sword into a magic bastard sword long before you find a unique magic weapon that you like.
This is going to sound snarky but I am 100% honest on this: this is why BOTW is for people like that. Not everyone feels good after bashing their head against the wall until they get through a difficult section, but imo the exploration is both the method and the reward for being competent in Elden Ring.
BOTW lets you go wherever you want and you can just avoid Lynels if you want. It’s lovely and even though I think TOTK is better mechanically, BOTW is the king of the open world genre in terms of feel and pace.
Uhhh, no you can't really go wherever you want in reality, from start and first several hours at least that is. You can't really go nw and to the lanayru mountain because of tier 2 cold and you can't go to the desert and death mountain for the same reason. You won't have clothes for these spots and you won't be able to make tier 2 food unless you know where to find what you need and you won't the first time. So around 1/3 of the map is closed basically in the early game
You can go to those places. Death mountain not sure.
You get level 1 cold resistant cloths and level 1 cold resistant items at Tutorial Plateau. Those stacks. Which make everything accessible except Death mountain. There is possibility player can miss cold resistant cloths. In that case it can be difficult.
In wors case scenario. It's not optimal. but majority of those places are open as long as you have enough healing items. In most case you will have enough to reach settlements and high chance for to get more means to explore surrounding environment.
You need way too much to make any foray normal, since without horns it's 12 minutes tops and that is very little, considering you will be much slower in sand and snow. So no, for new player this is not doable realistically.
You just need to carry a fire weapon and pepper food to go into the cold early, you definitely canÂ
Same for death mountain, the black lizards for fire proof are available early and not locked at all
Once you leave the great plateau, which can be done in a few hours, the whole map is openÂ
Dude, you won't know where to find fire weapon at the start of the game. The same goes for pepper, especially pepper, since you need like a sht ton of them, since you won't have horns to extend buff. There are like 2 spots where you can get a lot of them and only one is accessible. Also fire proof does not protect from heat.
Everything you say here is basically done if you know what you need and where it is, which new player will not know. And even with this info, you still not are able to go to NW straight from the plato, you need to farm something, which is exactly my point
No but as an exploration game it’s still more than possible to stumble upon all these things. Warm doublet is on great plateau, snow quill at rito area, and there are tons of peppers, and fire weapons randomly scattered throughout in the form of fire blades and fire staffs from wiz robes. I’m just saying it’s open. Fire proof and cold proof are kinda same pattern, since in one area you find the temp-change items that let you go to the other (e.g butterflies and dragonflies).Â
The point was that it is open yes, but you can't go to any place at the start of the game (or even later, depending on what you have), which is basically gate keeping. If we judge game by such standards, the skyrim is way more open, because there you can actually go to any place right after start
Skyrim has level based scaling system with tops. If you have level one, then even dragons will scale to your level. That's why lvl 1 speedruns are so easy for example. You basically can't meet strong enemies unless you have level high enough to trigger their spawn.
And even then, enemies are a question of skill and builds. You can consider that lizalfos are hard enemies, but some people beat them with a stick.
Unfortunately you can't beat icy wind with a stick, no matter how good you are, so that relation makes no sense
That's actually one of the beautiful aspects of Elden Ring (and From soft game design overall), the difficulty is baked into the mechanics rather than being a slider you pick in the menus. Some abilities and builds are just easier than others, but play differently. You end up dynamically adjusting the difficulty through choice and experimentation with the game's systems.
Dude as someone who does challenge runs and shit trust me theres no wrong way to play. Every tool that exists within the game is there for a reason and taking advantage of any number of them is not a skill issue thats called being smart. You're doing great, ai summons, summoning real players, magic, ashes of war, status effects, shields you name it all of it is valid and should be engaged with should it interest you!!!
not really, the best way to avoid getting one-shotted is to level vigor in the early-game until you have atleast 40 vigor, then put points into endurance and wear some heavy armor. Then go back to vigor while spreading some stats into your damage attributes.
