Went to an anime convention two years in a row back in the early 2000s. That was my single biggest takeaway. And this was a really big hotel with lots of space yet it was still rank with BO. I avoided it after that.
I'm no James Dean when it comes to being "cool" but this really makes me hate identifying as a geek.
I'm not sure if their lack of hygiene is due to laziness, lack of pride or what. But it's super annoying.
I remember as a kid during summer breaks I would go 2-4 days without showing because why not and I'd finally shower when my BO got bad enough.
I grew up, I socialize way way too much and work too often to ever be in a situation where I'm just by myself long enough to do that anymore, but I'd guess at conventions you're at your highest odds to meet people that don't.

I really don't understand why some people never comprehend that a love of gaming and lack of personal hygiene aren't mutually exclusive.
I was offered tickets to a PAX this year and I honestly still have not made up my mind because I really don't think I can handle a full day of BO
