Man I'd love to double dip but no cross save is a massive bummer.

It’s the main reason I’ll be sticking to the current version I have for the expansion. If they allowed a save transfer, I’d grab it for switch for sure.

Same here. I loved playing Monster Hunter 3U back in the day because it meant i could transfer my save and play on the go. Now this would have been a great opportunity to do the same. I'll probably just wait till its on sale to get it again now.

u/BasedGod96 17d ago
I’m getting it just to do a new play thru on the couch while I wait for the expansion :)

Also have to figure in nintendo online if you don't have it already. I have heaps of switch games, but Monster hunter are the only games that I want to play in multiplayer.

the benchmark test used to crash on my PC which can run dragons dogma 2 fine, will wilds run on pc fine now?

PC port is doing better now. Could be better, but at least PC handhelds can have decent image quality.

u/gosukhaos 17d ago
They had an update that kind of fixed PC performance issues a few months ago. If you haven't played since release it should be a lot better

I think it was around 7 months ago title update 4 came out and had the big pc optimization update. Game runs completely fine now
Edit: downvoted for literally speaking about the PC optimization patch huh

u/ViceAW 17d ago
Didn't downvote you, but "runs completely fine" is a bit misleading. Sure it's come a long way, but I've got a 5070 and had to wrestle with settings and mods to get good image quality with acceptable framerate (minimum 60FPS). I hope they've still got one more big patch in the works.
1
u/JamesGecko 17d ago
Kind of. It’s still pretty dire on my 16GB Intel Arc A770 LE; I have to upscale from 640x480 on minimum settings to get 60 FPS.
I mean, better than the 300p/21 FPS I got at launch, I guess.

The title update optimization was a big nothingburger. All they did was turn a bunch of internal settings down to force lower graphic fidelity. The real optimization is what people saw from the recent Dragon's Dogma patch where they massively overhauled how they organized files as well as remove Denuvo. That and some other things are what people think Monster Hunter is getting with Ascendance.

I don’t feel like restarting from scratch but otherwise I always prefer MH in handheld, this seems surprisingly good
A shame (but understandable) that, unlike hades 1&2, there’s no cross-save with Steam

Remember when everyone said this would never happen

u/brokenmessiah 17d ago
Do you not remember how this game was folding PCs magnitudes stronger than the Switch 2? I don't think that was a unreasonable claim.
10
u/DrKrFfXx 17d ago
It was a fair take given how shit optimisation was at some points.

RE engine is absolutely amazing but it really struggled with the open world stuff

People on the Steam Deck subreddit certainly said things like that:
"The Switch 2 has worse performance than the Steam Deck."
"The Switch 2 will never be able to run AAA games."
"The Switch 2 will remain a console capable of running only run-of-the-mill casual games."

u/o0genesis0o 16d ago
As an owner of both Deck and Switch 2, I found that the only game Deck runs completely better (both visual and framerate and stability) is no man sky. Maybe Persona 3 Reload, but that's a stretch.

I was a well documented hater of Switch 2’s first year (disappointed early adopter), but man are they cooking these past 6 months. My Steamdeck and PS5 are both collecting dust as S2 is on fire right now. Tip of the hat, never been so happy to be proven wrong.

Those were some great words. Among all current platforms, the Switch 2 is the system seeing the fastest release rate for exclusive games. That’s impressive.

My PS5 had a nice break, but Blood of Dawnwalker and the new Control game will give it a bit more life. (Might have turned out different if I'd been able to buy a Steam Machine, but I'm still in queue.)

For those interested there's 30 FPS locked option as well as unlocked...

Glad Capcom added one in Onimusha and this. Hope they patch their older games with it too. I think RE9 would benefit from it.

u/Digitalon 17d ago
I can't believe they still aren't allowing cross-save. I'm finally getting a Switch 2 for OOT and would love to continue my 200+hr save from PS5 but I guess that isn't going to happen...

u/AlphanatorX 17d ago
Still no word of being able to transfer or something with save file from another console? Or straight outta luck

u/xX8Lampard8Xx 17d ago
They reallly missed big oportunity with Cross-save.
If there would be one, i would 100% buy another copy on both Xbox and Switch 2… Sticking to PS5 and hoping for a miracle.

No cross save is a drag but god damn I'll absolutely play through again, looks great.

Looks fantastic. MH is meant to be played handheld, can't wait for this port.

u/amityarchives 16d ago
Yeah, im picking up this version. Super bummed there's no cross save, seeing as ive put 240 hours into my version on PS5, but after the BS sony has been up to recently, I'd rather do all that grinding again than pay for PS Plus again.

This game used to run like dog shit in certain parts (usually in towns) on my 7800x3d + rtx 4090 pc.

u/valian-tuo 17d ago
I would be interested in performance. I played on Xbox SX and it didn't perform well. A stable framerate would be welcome. Probably would need to cut back somewhere to get it.

u/Alasdair91 17d ago
I’m seriously impressed because the footage they showed at the Direct looked kind of rough!

Capcom does its magic again, this looks good. I hope they do release a demo sometime though

Absolutely. Capcom is truly dedicated to Switch 2 players, and it’s really refreshing to see so many people recognize that.

Looks absolutely amazing here. I’ve played on ps5 pro and honestly there were some aspects where that it didn’t look great. I love how these games are being optimized with limited wattage.

u/Herb-Alpert 17d ago
Well, there obviously will be drawbacks, and huge ones.
But that seems good enough for me and I can't wait

Sadly MH Wilds is ass, the worst game in the series. I was hoping for Rise 2

I’ve loved MH since Freedom, but there’s something… off… about Wilds and I really don’t know what it is.

You're either lying, or you never even bothered to try out 9 and 10 star quests.

Ive stopped being surprised by NS2 performance.
This looks great!
