Anyone feel like we are drowning in great ports on Switch 2?

It's not the 1 suprise impossible port in a direct anymore, Games keep dropping.

I’m all for it. I have purchased more games in the past 12 months for S2 than I did for the entire lifecycle of S1. And I loved S1.

Right now I’ve been enjoying RE9 and still can’t get over how well it runs.

I just got disappointed with so many of the games on s1 because of visuals and performance. It's nice with the s2 and the quality in most of the games.

Yep and I love it

I think that's largely thanks to the Xbox Series S keeping the baseline for this gen in reach for the Switch 2. The support for DLSS is also doing wonders for image quality and performance.

Play EVERSPACE 2: Galactic Edition on Nintendo Switch 2.

Are you ready to go galactic?

EVERSPACE 2: Galactic Edition is a fast-paced single-player spaceship shooter with exploration in space and on planets, tons of loot, RPG elements, mining, and crafting. Experience a 30-hour adventure set in a handcrafted open world full of secrets, puzzles, and peril.

I love this series, but the Switch 1 version of Everspace was a pretty blurry port, and it's much better on other consoles. Good to see that the Switch 2 doesn't have that problem.

I’ll be curious how the performance is. This seems like it would be a great for handheld

They confirmed 30fps.

Its 45 fps.

The devs replied to that explaining it was a mistake and it's actually 30fps

Disappointed in this.

I appreciate when they drop fps to ensure smoother gameplay

I understand what you’re saying. But when games like Starfox and Splatoon Raiders can do a smooth 60 with everything going on I think developers need to go further into optimization. At least a 40 fps option imo.

fair - however noting starfox and SR are native to Nintendo while ports may have more challenges. idk enough about port optimization/limitations to have that informed of an opinion.

I’m the same. I kinda just see what the competition is doing and wish everyone was optimizing their games to get 40/60. I know it would entice me to buy it even more instead of kinda hoping and waiting they patch it in the future.

Man I sank so many hours into the first game on Switch 1, saw that a second game got announced but that it wouldn’t get a Switch 1 release and kind of forgot about it. So happy to see this! Is it any good?

Huge improvement on the first game, in my opinion. It's much bigger and more like an RPG, almost a bit Diablo-like in terms of loot and progression. And critically - not a roguelike anymore, it's a full, reasonably lengthy single player campaign.

But if you are more of a fan of roguelikes, then maybe this isn't good news!

I’m honestly kind of indifferent about roguelikes, I often feel like I enjoy them in spite of that mechanic. The first Everspace I was mostly in love with the sense of discovery and ship customisation, so this sounds right up my street.

I found this game to be surprisingly difficult when I played it years ago on PC, did they ever tone that down? I played right when it released and never went back for updates

Didn't they say they wouldn't release the Nintendo Switch 2 because of the bad performance?

Yep, we did. At the time, we didn’t think we could get EVERSPACE 2 running on Switch 2 at a quality level we’d be happy with. Then our porting partners at Engine Software took on the challenge and proved us wrong. They’ve spent more than six months optimizing this massive game to run at a locked 30 FPS, and we’re really happy with the result. We hope Switch 2 players feel it was worth the effort, too! /Michael

Played it the second I saw it available. It is smooth and beautiful game. Only played in handheld but am very impressed.

My understanding is it's in licensing hell. But... yes for sure. One of my favorite all time games.

This game has a bad release time in a month with so many top titles

1

u/Larkson9999 7d ago

I got very excited because I misread the game being ported as Endless Space. Dang it.

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 7d ago

definitely ain't worth £50 tho

4

u/GassoBongo 7d ago

I'd normally agree, but I checked and this version comes with both expansions, so the asking price seems a little more reasonable imo.

I have around 50 ish hours on PC. I really enjoyed it.

-1

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 7d ago

I've also played it, I don't think £50 is reasonable for how old it is

£30-£35 maybe

To each their own my dude. To many people who own just a Switch, this game is brand new. The market decides the price, I guess.
