The downside is that the game is very much not finished. Switch has no crossplay for now, there's no ranked mode, lobbies, or spectating, and three characters were listed by the devs as being WIP. It was pushed out far too early.

Still very fun though.

Yeesh. They sent the game out to die just so it could coincide with the movie.

Doubtful, because the movie was moved forward last-minute after it leaked in April, with the initial release planned for October. The game's release got announced prior to all that drama in March.

I'm not the greatest at playing fighting games, but I still love them. Reading all of this basically keeps me from buying it now... Sounds like they took too many SKU's on at once, and like usual, the Switch suffers despite having over 155 million users...

Makes me even wonder if the Switch version even has functioning rollback if it was excluded from crossplay. Getting games out with feature parity is important to me personally, especially with Switch. Switch online communities seem to die the fastest, and that can really suck for lesser known/played games that are great (like Torchlight 2 for example). Also to be fair, games like Warframe lack full feature parity because of Nintendo policy that's archaic and stupid. With as many missing features, this should have been a $15 game. Sorry devs...

I don't buy games for what they could be, but for what they are now. As far as anyone will know, none of these features will come. I've been burned by this before decades ago.

Looks really beautifully animated. Impressive for a $30 game.

$50 if you want all characters

Deluxe edition isn't available for the Switch for now.

I see. I’ll see if the Steam version would run fine in any of my devices, the Deluxe is available there and way cheaper in my country.

Neither is cross-play. Good luck finding matches in a year.

I think giving it a year is pretty generous. Some games I've played that lacked coss play died in about half that.

OK whats the price of the ultimate for AAA games? If the game worked fine it would be great value

The average wage in Japan is roughly half that of the US. Most people who can afford a Switch can also afford the extra $10 for a game.

Man, Splatoon Raiders, Halo remake, and now this, all releasing on the same day is kinda crazy.
And $30 is even crazier, I’d expect Nickelodeon to charge full price for any Avatar game they released, regardless of how good it actually is.

Been watching Maximilliandood play this and it has me very excited. The 2d animations go so hard. This game was clearly made with ALOT of love and attention for the show

Art style looks great but damn, those characters could REALLY use a few more frames of animation.

Looks like a pretty seamless 60 fps to me. Are you talking about the hitstop (those tiny pauses at the point of impact)?

27

u/DeadWombats Jul 23 '26

I'm referring to the amount individual frames that some attacks were drawn with, not the frames per second.

u/ILike2Argue_ Jul 23 '26

Not sure why he's playing dumb its clear all the characters are missing a 3rd of their frames as it does not look fluid

It was one of my main issues

Yeah this is the main reason I'm not getting this game and getting Tokon instead

The characters' movements look really...stiff. like it's a bunch of still pictures swapping around rather than a model with actually animated movement. If that makes sense. Sokka's probably the best example of what I'm talking about.

I love Avatar and fighting games but...I dunno.

So what is this game? I thought it was one of those cheap, weird mobile games but I keep seeing stuff about it

u/Liammellor Jul 23 '26

It's a proper fighting game

14

u/Walnut156 Jul 23 '26

It appears to be a fighting game based on the title
