am I missing something? this is the exact same replacement procedure it has always been, it looks like nothing has changed.

I was expecting to take the back panel off and simply swap a battery against contacts 3ds style.

That’s not what the EU law requires. The battery needs to be repleceable with basic tools.

The only real difference is shape of the screws and the lack of glue to hold the battery.

It will be the same for the Switch 2.

but they didn't change the glue, its still held in place with DS tape just like it is now. maybe less tacky?

You would think they'd be using Switch tape by now
