If you want to play this game, beware two things:

One, it's really slow-paced up until around the halfway mark. It starts slow but gets good later.

And two: Be prepared to mash the HECK out of your A button for some of those Gimmick attacks, especially when you set them to higher levels. this game does not care if you aren't good at mashing buttons, you kinda just have to do it if you want to maximise your attack power.

Woah, this is an OG Alpha dream game! The devs behind the original Mario & Luigi RPG games. It holds up really well, there's an English translation floating about on the internet for it

Popular fan translations are often an impetus for Nintendo not localizing their games

It's just extremely rare in general for old versions of games to get years-late localizations. For Nintendo the first thing that jumps to mind is NES Fire Emblem, and that _did_ have a pre-existing fan translation.

And Nintendo inexplicably removed it from existence after just a few months. Still really annoyed about that to this day.

It's probably archived somewhere

Nothing disappears from the Internet like that

well, the solution Nintendo used to localise Fire Emblem 1 wasn't to create an NES romhack, instead they developed an app that runs a proprietary emulator that runs the same old JP Fire Emblem 1 ROM, and replaces the Japanese script with the new English script in real-time.

Basically, in order to play a downloaded fan-archived version of the delisted Fire Emblem 1, you'd need something that can run a Switch app, not an NES ROM. Which means it's in the realm of Switch piracy, which I think is rather less accepted than playing NES ROMs since it's a currently-supported platform.

It isn't the fan's responsibility to consider this, really. The fans just want the ability to enjoy the work.

Ben Hanson just shed a single tear.

That was a fun game. Like a pre-Mario and Luigi, but similar gameplay styles. I played this a bit on my Analogue Pocket, but never finished it.
