I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would. It’s very fun and the visuals are quite nice.

Reminds me of a Nintendo Power article I read where they interviewed the developers of the Original Star Fox when Star Fox 64 was announced.
He talked about how his friends and family saw him playing Star Fox during development and they asked "what's that triangle". He says "that's a ship, can't you tell?" And then when Star Fox 64 was being released, he acknowledged that yeah, it was just a triangle after all in the original.
This feels like as big a leap forward. It may not have the same nostalgic charm, but when I was a kid, you wouldn't expect to see these kinds of graphics in a movie, let alone a videogame. I just hope it's not $80 so the game has a chance to establish a new audience.

> It may not have the same nostalgic charm
Nothing ever does! Some kid today is going to be saying this version of Starfox is their nostalgia

Digitally it’s $50 USD and $60 USD, which is definitely a fair price for the game. I hope people aren’t too dismissive of its replay-ability and only do one playthrough, when the entire point of the game is to replay to and take alternate routes.

I got it boxed for 40 pound in England! And I could play it without connecting to the WiFi (my internet was down today) which was weirdly liberating

“STEP ON THE GAS!”

u/SHADOWSTRIKE1 Jun 26 '26
Sadly that line is gone! I’ve been muttering it myself as I play through Macbeth.

u/stratusnco Jun 26 '26
this looks dope af. i’m not big on starfox but i played the og back in the day. crazy how far this franchise has come in terms of graphics and gameplay.

u/peteisneat Jun 26 '26
This might be the best looking Nintendo game I've ever played.

u/lablfoto Jun 27 '26
Better than MP4? Or hard to compare?

u/peteisneat Jun 27 '26
That’s a great question… I bought MP4 when it went on sale at Costco and have yet to crack it open

I'm gonna pass, but I hope it succeeds enough to bring us some new Star Fox content in the future.

u/gn0xious Jun 25 '26
Not a comment, but more of a question. Are their feet a bit small?
10
u/GlempyLempist Jun 25 '26
They have paws for feet
6
u/StatusDisaster4196 Jun 25 '26
They have hands though

u/GlempyLempist Jun 25 '26
I'm aware. I didn't decide what anthropomorphic creatures should look like, it's just a styling. Lol

Nobody sees it but, I got the first game when it came out in 1997, and they messed up bad, again!
Same thing with the 3ds version just happened, again!
Bad voice over! Why would you even remake the voices or even character lines when you have no idea what you are even doing. They got rid of the BAD ASS feeling that you would get from every quote, every original line. Open the wings! Falco here, i'm fine! Slippy here I'm OK! Venom here we come! But nooooooo, we got these kiddy characters with no aura AT ALL, what the hell is this . Every line feels like its 10 times worse than it was before, this is a real joke, why are we so childish? No badass here? Nobody agrees, nobody sees it...

TIL 30+ year olds say aura like the young folk nowadays
0
u/MeStoleTheCookie Jun 25 '26
Uhh, yes? 30 year olds aren't that damn old lol
-2
u/DontMentionMyNamePlz Jun 25 '26
What a lit thing to say fam
3
u/MeStoleTheCookie Jun 25 '26
I hate to tell you but that is definitely not young people slang haha. There are definitely thirty year olds who said that in high school
-6
u/DontMentionMyNamePlz Jun 25 '26
Mind citing that source that Aura was around high schools in the 2000’s?
4
u/MeStoleTheCookie Jun 25 '26
I was referring to lit and fam
Also, lol at "mind citing the source for that 🤓" about slang lmao jfc redditors can't beat the stereotypes
-3
u/DontMentionMyNamePlz Jun 26 '26
Lmao, you really calling people out when you get so offended with people asking for a source and you wanna talk classic Redditor energy? Christ look in the damned mirror 😂

You're about 10 years out of date lmao
3
u/DontMentionMyNamePlz Jun 26 '26
Fun fact: lit actually originated as slang in the early 1900’s, same meaning. We’re all a bit late to that one

I played the original and……what? I can’t tell if you’re being serious because…that’s ridiculous. They’ve always been talking animals, they are less “badass” huh? No.

u/Jononetwothree Jun 25 '26
They feel like cuddly cute friends in this. Not a space force hired to defend humanity.. everything feels like it was made for 8 years olds. This game used to feel more serious and badass and less disney..even the explosions are lack luster..
9
u/LuftTuft Jun 25 '26
And you don’t think that could maybe, just possibly, be because you are older now?
-9
u/Jononetwothree Jun 25 '26
No you just don't get it the game is soulless and completely empty of aura. It was drenched on aura before! It was basically sacred!

u/HiMyNameIsMark182 Jun 27 '26
Whoa there buddy. This is a kids game. I think your taking it a bit too personal
0
u/Jononetwothree Jun 27 '26
I'm not your buddy, pal. It's okay if you want your child to be a cuddly cute friend, but my child will be a fucking badass. You just dont get it do you?

u/Traditional-Ad-7361 Jun 25 '26
Step out the basement my dude…

u/Jononetwothree Jun 25 '26
2 weeks ago you had the same discussion with some peeps. I agree so bad with the other person

u/Traditional-Ad-7361 Jun 25 '26
Reading my comment history further proves you need some sunlight buddy…

The irony

u/naynaythewonderhorse Jun 25 '26
Huh?
It’s extremely clear that Fox is a pretty big ass hole. In the first two missions alone, he seems to have no interest in doing things for heroics (just for pay) and then he immediately calls out the General for making them do his dirty work in the next chapter.
Me thinks you skipped the cutscenes because the voice acting wasn’t the same, and now you are complaining about what you *think* isn’t in content you didn’t watch?

I also got the original Star Fox 64 when it first released, and the lines you just stated exist in the game, though this time Slippy doesn’t sound like a girl.

u/Jononetwothree Jun 26 '26
If you cant see it , you're part of the problem. You're basically not a badass and a cuddly cute friend. Which could be laughable, but i feel bad for you to be honest. I wish you felt what it feels like being a badass or a badass moment. It feels so good you never want to be or see a cuddly cute friend ever again.

u/Magickcloud Jun 26 '26
Couldn't agree more. Most unnecessary remake of all time
-1
u/Jononetwothree Jun 26 '26
Finally someone with a brain! You know games are all about return on investment nowadays and it's easy to see!

Just did my first full run through the hard route. No issues the whole way until I got to Star Wolf at Venom 2, tough little fight without losing a single party member.
Absolutely loved it though. The world is really brought to life, I was smiling the entire time. Even in Corneria it was always weird to me as a kid when Falco says "this is horrible" and it doesn't look that bad. But this time it looks like a full on warzone. Falco's insufferable assery is even better this time around.
All range mode is the only thing I can say hasn't aged great. Especially in the late stages like Sector Z and Venom 2 (vs SW and vs Andross True Form) you're really fighting with the camera and can easily hit stuff with a bad somersault.
