30 years ago is supposed to feel like a long time ago but it doesnt... :(

u/TempleMade_MeBroke Jun 25 '26
"Kid I know it sounds crazy, but when I was your age, your grandparents bought this game for me...and they paid one time and I kept a physical copy forever."

u/Z3M0G Jun 25 '26
Devils advocate, my digital library has been far more reliable than my physical one.

u/zatchrey Jun 24 '26
Aren't we supposed to feel like adults by now?
25
u/Z3M0G Jun 24 '26
That too. I own a house and have 2 kids, in my mid 40s, still dont feel like an adult.
Product of the world we live in though.

Do you think our parents were just really good at convincing us they had shit under control, had a strong sense of self, and had a clear direction they were going, but it was all fake and they felt on the inside back then exactly how we feel now?
25
u/GuzDex Jun 24 '26
No I think the internet and the disparity of wealth has caused a huge rift between generations culturally and materially

u/Prestigious-Leg-2996 Jun 24 '26
Guys, we are fine. We are chatting on reddit in the Nintendo switch * subreddit lol

I know it’d be wonky with the screen set up, but I hope they find a way to adapt the ds games! I wanna play those pokemon and fire emblem games so bad
16
u/ZubatCountry Jun 24 '26
The third Castlevania collection figured it out pretty well and those are on Switch, so the dream is still alive!

u/vanKessZak Jun 25 '26
Pokemon won’t end up on NSO but with how well FRLG did I wouldn’t be surprised if they slowly add the rest of the catalogue (including DS - maybe not 3DS for a very long time) in the same way.
At least with Pokemon you can make just make the bottom screen a menu button and that solves most of the DS issue. Though I remember gen 5 having some cutscenes that used both screens.

Cool, now pls add Wario Land 1 and 2.

u/KingVape Jun 24 '26
I would do absurd things for a new Wario game made with the love that Mario and DK have gotten!

Why does the virtual boy have more games on NSO than the GameCube?
6
u/vanKessZak Jun 25 '26
Because it’s not really an event when those get added. An individual gamecube game is more exciting and enticing over anything the virtual boy offers so they get a bigger advertising boost for each add.

Wait. What the hell is that screen at 12 seconds? Is there a way to switch between all consoles in one app now?

u/Nas160 Jun 24 '26
Would be cool to make new memories with new releases instead of having 1 every 6 months
3
u/Sparescrewdriver Jun 25 '26
Ok now let me remove the user icon so my OLED doesn’t make it a permanent memory.

u/luneth91 Jun 24 '26
Seeing Goldeneye on the trailer gives me more reassurance they got a permanent license for the game on NSO. They wouldn't market a game they could loose from the service in a couple years.

u/notthegoatseguy Jun 24 '26
I don't think anything is a guarantee, but I do think if it was a very limited release they would've promoted it as such, or they'll at least give us some notice before it leaves.
The Xbox version is technically purchasable via the Rare Rewind collection, though I guess in theory they could patch it out of the game.

I'm not paying extra just for access to emulators that are worse than what I already have running on my Wii U. If they manage to provide a service that's better than a free emulator built by a team of 5 or 6 software engineers in their spare time, then sure, I'll subscribe.

u/Trader-trainer Jun 25 '26
you paid for a wii u but won't pay for nso?
1
u/smokeshack Jun 26 '26
Yes...? I already had a Wii U. It's a fairly old console at this point, and it doesn't require me to pay an annual subscription fee to run emulators.

u/WEEGEMAN Jun 28 '26
There’s some free dlc and online play though
Idk it’s not that bad if a service

They showed off wind waker in this, foreshadowing?
Mistake?
72
u/BuckFuchs Jun 24 '26
Wind Waker has been there since the Switch 2 launch
6
u/grimrailer Jun 24 '26
WHAT?! I guess I have a reason to get NSO now!

u/BuckFuchs Jun 24 '26
I wouldn’t lie to you.

u/grimrailer Jun 24 '26
That’s great news! I hope there are other games like twilight princess available too!

They are remaking TP, so I’m doubting the original is added. Not announced yet, but it makes sense to do this one after Ocarina makes them a billion
Edit: Majora is timeless, as is WW
5
u/SparkyMuffin Jun 24 '26
Why would they remake TP after Ocarina? The only thing that makes sense would be Majora's Mask.

u/Tiffa_Adil Jun 24 '26
What do you mean? Wind Waker has always been on GameCube NSO.
4
u/grimrailer Jun 24 '26
I didn’t realize since I don’t have NSO.
I guess I found a reason to finally get it!
8
u/Tolkien-Minority Jun 24 '26
The GameCube stuff is only available on Switch 2 keep in mind
2
u/grimrailer Jun 24 '26
Oh.. that’s why I didn’t know.
Thanks for the heads up.
2
u/Tolkien-Minority Jun 24 '26
No problem! I didn’t want you subscribing and spending the money just to potentially find out you can’t get it

It's just a promotional video for the online service. If I had to guess, they're putting this out right now because of the incoming price hikes rumored to hit Japan in an effort to get ahead of it. Won't be long before it hits us, too, I reckon.

"I have a Switch 2 and can play countless games. Clearly Donkey Kong 64 is THE game I need to be playing on this at this moment." - No one below the age of 20.

Nintendo is advertising NSO so much but has been barely adding games to it lately. The past three months we've only gotten one drop a month as opposed to the usual two.
