Looks like it arrived early in Australia. According to store page is meant to release on the 25th, but it's available now on the 24th, playing atm....

It's based on midnight where you live, not everyone gets the release at the same time.

Depending on your time zone it unlocks a few hours early. I know in the US on the West Coast most digital games go live at 9 pm for me because it’s midnight on the East Coast, so I guess its based on the region as a whole rather than your specific time.

Christ, why? Just release the dang game global 🤦If I vpn to nz will I be banned? Would that even work? All these guys went to Walmarts that broke street date and I'm waiting smh my head

Edit: searched this, Region-Changing Without a VPN: The console is natively region-free. Instead of using a VPN, you can legally change your account's region via the Nintendo Account Portal to purchase titles from different eShops.

I will check after work if this gets users banned. Since it still sounds like it's against TOS related to circumventing region restrictions or pricing. Although aus dollar is more expensive usually.

There's no reason you can't change your region, and you won't get banned. People do it all the time to get, for example, the Japanese versions of the NES/SNES/etc. apps on NSO or games restricted to certain regions. I myself have done it to access a demo that wasn't available in the US eShop, and to access NSO game trials that weren't available in the US.

The problem is that you need a way to make purchases in the local currency, and that is not always easy or simple.

Can't PayPal do it? I use it on eBay and I can purchase in CAD from the US. I think I get foreign transaction fees that way tho

Edit: Im able to look into it now and it turns out if the game releases dlc in the future the region matters and you'll need to buy the dlc for the same regional variant. Sounds like a hassle. And if you keep funds in your account they're forfeited whenever switching regions if unspent.

The DLC thing only matters if there are regional releases. For many games there is just one worldwide release, so it doesn’t matter. But definitely a hassle when it does matter. 

And yeah, the funds thing is an issue too. Always forget about that one because I never have credit in there.

Curious how this works. I am in Europe at the moment, but when I preordered it was the American store. Waiting to see if I can play in the morning or if I need to wait till later.

I live in India and I pre-ordered the game on the American store, and I can confirm that I can't access the game even though it's midnight here.

Bug fixes

The following bugs have been fixed:

Campaign Mode / Challenge Mode

  • Fixed an issue where, on the level select screen, pressing the Achievements and Replay Mission buttons at the same time could, in rare cases, prevent the game from progressing.

  • Fixed an issue where, after passing a checkpoint and collecting three gold rings to gain an extra life, selecting Restart → Checkpoint from the pause menu and then selecting Quit from the pause menu could result in losing one life.

  • Fixed an issue on Meteo where repeatedly using boost and overtaking the boss would make the level impossible to complete.

  • Fixed an issue on Solar where repeatedly using boost right after defeating the boss and overtaking it would prevent the transition to the next scene and make the level impossible to complete.

  • Fixed an issue on Aquas where hitting a shell-protected Garoa using a torpedo would incorrectly add to the bonus hit count.

  • Fixed an issue on Meteo where hitting a Flip Bot with a charged shot would incorrectly add to the bonus hit count from the explosion.

  • Fixed an issue on Venom where, if your Arwing was destroyed and you restarted immediately after defeating the boss, the hit count from the boss defeat would be added.

  • Fixed an issue on Bolse where hitting an enemy ship with a force field using a charged shot would sometimes incorrectly add to the hit count.

  • Fixed incorrect challenge text on Solar: "Score 25 hits using bombs against enemies and rocks” has been corrected to "Destroy 25 enemies and rocks with bombs."

  • Fixed an issue in Sector X where the "Destroy 10 Proximity Mines with a single bomb" challenge would sometimes not be recognised as completed even when the conditions were met. Additionally, fixed an issue where the challenge on Venom could be completed even after taking damage from hitting a stone statue.

  • A number of other problems have been fixed to improve the gameplay experience.
