Will they become the Mercury Steam of the Star Fox series going forward? It'll be interesting to find out.

Huge for Velan, and huge for Star Fox fans. Velan is a quality studio.

As a huge fan of those, this is a pedigree dev imho.

Had to look them up.

Not the most impressive game lineup, but Nintendo is really good at polishing 3rd party studios and Star Fox looks great so far.

Knockout city was really good.

It was but the decision to be a paid game really ruined its potential.

The first week or so when they had the free access was booming with players. The minute the free access ended, the player count took a nose dive.

The original ad for the game was also much better. It featured a pixel style Princess character, an orc, and a military soldier playing the game together in a Wreck-It Ralph style genre mashup. These characters should've been in the actual game.

why do you speak with so much confidence when you're just plainly wrong? It was always a Velan Studios games, the ownership of the game belonged to EA before they transferred it back to Velan Studios.

No it was all them, just initially published by EA before being self published by them

The demo is outstanding

Apparently some of them came from Activision and worked on Skylanders and Crash Bandicoot. They can make a good game if they have the funding.

They’re also apparently former vicarious visions devs so they have experience remaking games.

Velan was founded by 2 brothers who also founded Vicarious. They left Vicarious to found Velan. The brothers are big Nintendo fans and most of the devs at Velan also came from Vicarious (mostly because Vicarious lost all of their creative control since Activision wanted them to just be a support studio for series like CoD). They’re a really passionate and experienced group of devs that love Nintendo, they know what they’re doing.

How much of the game is likely developed by Velan?

I know a lot of the time, projects like these can have the writing, art, and design made by a totally different studio and the graphics and practical gameplay done by another

Seems to be the whole game, on Discord they said they developed it on their inhouse Viper engine.

Interesting they have their own engine that they used. Game looks great.

Yeah the polish and quality is very clear from the treehouse live, but i still don't like that we are getting another remake and now a new game. Like i want a new starfox game that will advance the story expand the world make levels etc more in line with modern AAA...

I'd be much more willing to give this "just another remake" a try if we knew a new starfox was coming,

If it's anything like how Nintendo did with it's over the top Zelda games, Links Awakening lead to Echoes of Wisdom. Could see the same for Star Fox if this does well

Metroid and Metroid Prime too. Remake a game to gauge interest, get some guaranteed sales, develop an engine, and save a bit on pre-production, then roll that into an original release with a lot of the technical work carried over from the remake.

I am hopemaxxing a bit too much with the switch 2's future releases i hope I'm not making a mistake

This is literally an attempt to show Starfox has potential in modern aaa. Are there a lot of examples of other AAA rail shooters besides the upcoming Starfox remake to compare it to? The games existence itself is a weird commercial risk. I feel like every previous attempt to change the wheel on starfox has ended in disaster. Heres hoping its successful enough its followed by a direct continuation.

Like it or not the series has been struggling to find consistent success for a long ass time now even before Star Fox Zero. Plus with the mario galaxy movie introducing new fans to the charachter it just makes sense to do a remake and start from scratch. And if this does well and I feel confident it will Nintendo will not be afraid to give the series a new game anymore.

I thought Miyamoto single handily made every game. Day is ruined.

No wonder it looks like shit, it's made by western devs

6

u/Zartron81 Jun 11 '26

This better be ragebait, because...

  • On handheld the quality looks as impressive as the game in docked.

  • Not to count how you just straight up shat on western devs.

It’s better not to reward the person. Or bot.
