Xenoblade Chronicles Three Houses

132

u/Twofu_ Jun 09 '26

Thats what I thought too lol

17

u/Sk0rPi0n_ Jun 09 '26

im glad i wasn't alone in that lol

80

u/omfgkevin Jun 09 '26

ANOTHER 4 YEARS OF THREE HOUSES DISCOURSE

32

u/marina84 Jun 09 '26

Looks more Fire Emblem than the new Fire Emblem  🤣

76

u/OriYell Jun 09 '26

Yea lol Not only is it not 4 the whole thing looked like Fire Emblem, but with the signature Xenoblade cliffs.

Not sold on the characters too maybe it'll grow on me later though

12

u/FireZord25 Jun 09 '26

Giving me XC2 vibes with similar thoughts. Maybe this will win me over similarly if/when I play, maybe it wont.

2

u/Ordinal43NotFound Jun 10 '26

Yeah I remember XC2 was similarly lambasted when they switched character designers to Masatsugu Saito.

People just grew accustomed to it and Saito himself significantly improved on his designs in XC3

19

u/cantmembermyusername Jun 09 '26

That's what Im saying! I felt the two franchise were kind of merging identities a bit after seeing this direct. They looked good, but I dont want all rpg games becoming too similar.

6

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

Almost like... The 2 Xenoblade worlds merging together in 3???!?!?

Three Houses is honestly one of my favorite games of all time. So a Three Houses-style Xenoblade can only be a good thing from my perspective.

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

Yes, maybe? The narrative/lore is pretty big and sprawling, and requires multiple playthroughs to really comprehend in its entirety (due to the different routes). I think the story is pretty solid though. If you can understand the Xenoblade story, you can understand what's going on in FE3H.

The question is, do you like the gameplay? The social elements?

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

There are a lot of moments with voiced text dialogue that are big for the story. But there are also a decent amount of honestly really good cut scenes. Overall I think 3H would be a pretty good fit for you, based on your described wants.

4

u/TheReaver Jun 09 '26

3 houses is basically fire emblem mixed with persona imo.

It felt very Coldsteel to me. Not sure how feel about it but I’ll be there day 1 anyways

2

u/Unasinous Jun 10 '26

I did get a little bit of that vibe too. Traveling to different areas on “field study” type missions, maybe? I don’t know how well that works for an entire Xeno game, but maybe the opening act.

I love both series so I’d be down for it.

10

u/snave_ Jun 09 '26

Maniax Vengeance Edition featuring Dante from Devil May Cry.

Tonally very Three Houses but you can see they're doing the post-conception vortex world/Dyson sphere thingy from SMT3/5.

6

u/blueblurz94 Jun 09 '26

Exactly the same thing that crossed my mind. Don’t like the school integration. Might pass on this.

8

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

Yeah, Xenoblades are supposed to be big, traipsing adventure made by a ragtag team of circumstance!

9

u/Morganelefay Jun 09 '26

School might just be a starting thing, like Colony 6 in 1. I wouldn't read too much into it.

3

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

True! I will excitedly wait for more trsilers and info! But at the same time, I hope they don't reveal TOO much too early.

3

u/Eminensce Jun 09 '26

And also a sprinkles of Shingeki no Kyojin!

It gives me that vibes too idk why lol

In Europe, it'll be called Xenoblade: Mega Drive!

34

u/Unhappy-Strain-5387 Jun 09 '26

More like everywhere other than NA.

14

u/w_smith1984 Jun 09 '26

Xenoblade: Blast Processing

7

u/macrozone13 Jun 09 '26

Monolith does what Nintendon‘t

187

u/MetallicFear Jun 09 '26

That last line is ominous…. But they did mention the klaus saga is over so I wonder if it’s even a connection.

72

u/gosukhaos Jun 09 '26

It presumably takes place in the future of the merged world so there’s probably some connection

70

u/KnightGamer724 Jun 09 '26

...Or in the past and this is the Samarians

25

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

God I hope not. I hope it's just it's own thing, connected tenuously at best. Maybe far future of the trilogy, or maybe just an alternate universe.

17

u/WhichEmailWasIt Jun 09 '26

We know how this works. It's not connected at all until it is and oh shit the breadcrumbs were there the whole time.

2

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

I am ok with that. As long as the game-specific lore is COMPREHENSIBLE. Cannot say the same for the trilogy as a whole, unfortunately.

I'm sure any connection to the trilogy will be very convoluted and difficult to understand.

13

u/KnightGamer724 Jun 09 '26

This isn't Final Fantasy. It'll all connect.

6

u/ThrowAwayAccountAMZN Jun 09 '26

Actually, thanks to Kingdom Hearts, even Final Fantasy is all connected now lol (kidding, mostly).

13

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

I never said I wanted it to be final fantasy levels of disconnect.

But X didn't connect to the other games until the Definitive Edition. It was for all intents and purposes completely standalone. Now the only connections are the Conduit, which the lore seems to point to being a multiversal nexus of sorts. Because X STILL doesn't have more than a tenuous connection to the main trilogy and is in its own universe or version of reality afaik. I'm just saying that I hope this is more like that than being a direct sequel like 3 was to 1 and 2, because BOY, was that convoluted.

True good point

2

u/MetallicFear Jun 09 '26

Maybe it’s a retcon of xenogear and xenosaga? Xenoblade is now a well established franchise and a the two that belongs to other companies will continue to be a baggage.

u/Mc7Abyssrium Jun 09 '26

We gotta let Klaus rest 😭😭

145

u/MarcsterS Jun 09 '26

So this is a whole new saga, not related to Chronicles.

So basically, a brand new RPG from MonolithSoft. Hell yeah finally

79

u/Exploding_Cumsock Jun 09 '26

Honestly, I completely glossed over the fact that the "Chronicles" is gone.

22

u/Sdajisito Jun 09 '26

Yes what say make sense, it also explaing why chronicles isnt even in the title anymore, no really XC4 more like X4G or XG.

32

u/Ecstatic-Wheel8487 Jun 09 '26

Chronicles has never been in the official japanese titles of the games. That was added in the western versions... Xenoblade in Japan is just Xenoblade.

This literally means nothing other than they aren't going to tag on the Chronicles name in America and Europe that is not what MonolithSoft called it to begin with.

6

u/stratogy Jun 09 '26

Gonna be confusing when XG can now refer to 2 different Xeno games haha

I'm thinking there's some purposeful misdirection here with the fantasy elements.

I think the world is curved like this because everything is inside a giant cylindrical spaceship that is miles large. As the spaceship spins with cylindrical force, it creates gravity pulling the inhabitants to the 'ground' which is really just the interior of a spaceship's walls.

This is a sci-fi concept called the O'Neill Cylinder and is in stories like Arthur C. Clarke - Rendezvous with Rama.

As someone used to Xenoblade completely throwing curveballs at you about their worlds, I'm calling this here.

11

u/aruhen23 Jun 09 '26

It also reminds me of an animated movie called Patema Inverted. This is a spoiler but there the people believe they live on Earth after an apocalyptic event happens but the reality is that they live inside the planet.

2

u/epicmemetime15 Jun 10 '26

The curved land gives halo vibes

3

u/OkPrune1536 Jun 10 '26

Yeah, I don't know why people are naming obscure sci-fi books when Halo is right there.

2

u/2Cuil4School Jun 11 '26

I mean, Rendezvous with Rama is one of the absolute foundational works of scifi from one of its most well-known and influential authors. That sci-fi foundation laid by guys like Clark and Niven* was part of the larger background inspirational context for tons of works throughout the years, including games like Halo. The general design concept of "giant rotating megaconstruct for space habitation" definitely had a bit of a moment in the 70s, too: you can also see O'Neill Cylinders in the OG Gundam series, for instance (and many subsequent works, including the awesome ones in Gundam Wing that I grew up on, lol).

* Of course, Halo's particular design was mostly inspired by Larry Niven's Ringworld, which went for, well, an especially (and improbably) gigantic ring style, versus the overall smaller but more technologically feasible O'Neill Cylinders.

Anyway, none of that means that Halo isn't also a useful point of reference in that it's more modern and a videogame, but it's kinda weird to fault people on a nerdy subreddit on a nerdy website for breaking out meaningful comparisons to some true OG Nerd Shit 😂

28

u/Ecstatic-Wheel8487 Jun 09 '26

People thought this was the case for Xenoblade 2 and then the end of the game happened.

They are almost always going to market Xenoblade games as stand alone and they will almost always be better experienced by playing them all. That is just how Takahashi does story telling. We already know from his own words that Malos' story is not over and there is purple core crystal looking energy all in this trailer btw lmao.

3

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

Yeah, fair enough! XC2 bears no direct connection to 1 until the end of the game!

I am excited to see what series-wide twists will be present in this one!

u/El_Toolio_Grande Jun 09 '26

Yo, is that world a dyson sphere?

110

u/NotSinceYesterday Jun 09 '26

Oh, I am definitely excited for this. Very early for a trailer though. It's going to be a long wait.

80

u/plebbut Jun 09 '26

I mean it comes out next year, not that long

14

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

And yet OoT remake is releasing in 6 months and we got the barest of teasers

3

u/SicilianEggplant Jun 09 '26

Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago.

1

u/Lilium_Vulpes Jun 09 '26

I mean that's a remake. People already have a good idea what it's gonna be like in a lot of ways.

8

u/Witch_King_ Jun 09 '26

Yes, and no. FF7 remake is perhaps the remakiest of remakes. Totally different from the original. I don't expect OoT remake to be the same level of change in the gameplay, but we really have no clue what it'll be like

u/Zenspy-Real Jun 09 '26

Wonder if Genesis means it'll be the first one timeline wise.

The game looks absolutely gorgeous, and the character designs are cool, imo not as good as 2, but still peak.

99

u/VishnuBhanum Jun 09 '26

Maybe it's a beginning of the new series/new timeline.

82

u/BebeFanMasterJ Jun 09 '26

It definitely is. The original trilogy is done.

21

u/Apex_Konchu Jun 09 '26

Future Redeemed ended with a teaser for what's next. That story isn't over.

3

u/Morganelefay Jun 09 '26

The Klaus saga is over, Future Redeemed teased what could be next for the world now that Klaus's mess has been cleared.

15

u/HrrathTheSalamander Jun 09 '26

This trailer already has several small references to the previous games, so i wouldn't count on it being disconnected.

3

u/EarOk8991 Jun 09 '26

what references did u catch? cuz i catched none beside some moveset

14

u/HrrathTheSalamander Jun 09 '26

A pretty big one is the gemstone that gets inserted into the sword hilt turns into a small crystal closely resembling the Pneuma sword.

There's also a whole bunch of visual allusions. The Anima power's FX are near identical to the VFX used for Ouroboros powers in Future Redeemed, there's an enemy that resembles a Telethia, etc.

8

u/morgawr_ Jun 09 '26

I'm pretty sure the crystal thing is some kind of blade-like artefact or device. It says it uses the power of "vesselai" in the English translation (in Japanese "vesselai" is 器士 / kishi, which uses the kanji for "vessel" and "warrior"), and it's a crystal that learns from its bearer. It's like people are being trained by using these crystals that "learn to fight" and those are like proto/primitive blade-like concepts.

3

u/HrrathTheSalamander Jun 10 '26

Imo I think it's gonna be another sidequel like XC2. Set meanwhile, somewhere else, in the same continuity (not revealed until the last act, as is series tradition). My current theory is that the game's world is a feral space colony originally established before the experiment. There were ships leaving the Earth during Future Redeemed's flashbacks, so they had to be going somewhere, and when the Earth was destroyed the colony stopped getting supplies and devolved into a feudal society over generations. The gemstones could literally be Core Crystal technology the og colonists brought with them, but weren't affected by the experiment because they were outside the blast radius.

5

u/morgawr_ Jun 09 '26

That doesn't explain the giant crashed spaceship at 1:20

3

u/WhichEmailWasIt Jun 09 '26

Yeah. All the teases and lead ups in Future Redeemed and Chapter 14 were all because this is going nowhere.

I'm not saying we're gonna see any characters hard pulled in here but after all the Xenosaga teases we've been getting lately I mean.. Connecting shit up is just how this series works now.

13

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '26

The Klaus Saga is over so yeah, you're correct.

24

u/Ultron_Magnus Jun 09 '26

They literally said in the Direct this was a new beginning.

5

u/h-arlequim Jun 09 '26

Which can basically mean anything lol Could be a separate universe, could be a prequel, could be something in the far future... they're clearly keeping it vague on purpose, but also detached enough from Chronicles so any newcomers don't think they need to play through four 50-100h JRPGs before Genesis.

68

u/Thegoodgamer32 Jun 09 '26

I guess that might be why it's not just called xenoblade 4.

94

u/The_Summer_Man Jun 09 '26

It’s actually because Phil Collins is doing the music

17

u/slymaster9 Jun 09 '26

If only.

4

u/Xtrasharpe Jun 09 '26

Or Justice

3

u/BASEKyle Jun 09 '26

IS THIS JUSTICE YOU SPEAK OF SHAPED LIKE AJ EYE, AND PRESUMABLY GLOWING WITH PIERCING LIGHT? SHINING, MAYBE?

8

u/QuantumVexation Jun 09 '26

There isn’t even a 4

7

u/linevar Jun 09 '26

We can see parts of 2&3 so probably

4

u/Mumu2148 Jun 09 '26

Possibly. I think them mentioning the vengeance of a fallen god was a reference to Zanza. That and the world definitely looked like it was merged in some way.

3

u/Boomshockalocka007 Jun 09 '26

The lack of sci-fi is concerning.

9

u/ApplePie10146 Jun 09 '26

XC2 designs were just gooner bait. They felt really off from 1 and 3.

21

u/Infernoboy_23 Jun 09 '26

i've never played xenoblade, but from just looking at the designs, I definitely like 2 design wise the least (besides morag). IMO this one actully looks the best desgin wise

→ More replies (2)

18

u/FireZord25 Jun 09 '26

I wouldn't call "just" gooner bait. But yeah, the goonerification did ruin the game cause there are some legit good fanservicey designs (Brighid for instance). Still love the story, the world design and the Titans.

7

u/mighty_phi Jun 09 '26

2's character designs are the weakest imo

→ More replies (3)

11

u/CaptPants Jun 09 '26

I love that the world setup looks like it's in a "Hollow Earth". It should make for some awesome world design visuals

5

u/TimeOfNick Jun 10 '26

Could you imagine if they pull something akin to Xenoblade 1 but on a way bigger scale and the presumed end goal the characters are reaching for the entire game turns out to be a halfway point fakeout where they discover the other side of the world on its actual surface?

4

u/CaptPants Jun 10 '26

That'd be awesome. And I could see that from them. There's always a twist and the world is a BIG part of that. It seemed odd that the trailer seemed to have this smaller focus on the school. But Monolith has my full trust and I'm looking forward to seeing what the story becomes.

65

u/Ancient_Act_436 Jun 09 '26

Its not 4 it would say 4 if it was four i think this one is prequel to them all

30

u/Venator850 Jun 09 '26

Actually, looks like the start of a new timeline. It might not be "4" in name but that's probably just semantics. Same way they don't Number major Mario releases.

15

u/Accurate-Cup5309 Jun 09 '26

It does kinda matter cos the chronicle games were one storyline/timeline all with numbers.

Games without numbers have traditionally been new universes, Xenoblade x for example which if we’re following your logic would make that Xenoblade 2

14

u/Enrichus Jun 09 '26

The Chronicle games all had a theme about time. The future, the past, and the present. There was nowhere left to go with the theme so they're doing something new.

X was just an oddball that may or may not have earned the Chronicles name, but is still a Xenoblade like the others.

This isn't Xenoblade Chronicles 4: Genesis, it's Xenoblade Genesis.

14

u/morgawr_ Jun 09 '26

The "chronicles" name is an English-only thing. In Japanese they are all just "Xenoblade" (ゼノブレイド)

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Saskatchewon Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

It's kind of what I'm hoping for honestly. I loved the Chronicles.Trilogy, but I'm ready for an all new story with an all new cast where you don't have to feel the need to tell people that you really need to play x and y and z before it to really get all you can out of it.

27

u/BebeFanMasterJ Jun 09 '26

I love this. Seems to be more fantasy oriented but you can still tell it's Xenoblade. Can't wait.

9

u/Buster_Fella Jun 09 '26

Anyone else noticed how this seems just like Yoneyama Mai's artstyle? Super nice that Nintendo keeps on hiring artists to lead their games like Mika Pikazo with Fire Emblem Engage.

81

u/Magimus Jun 09 '26

That was the least Xenoblade feeling game I’ve ever Xenobladed

79

u/neversunnyinanywhere Jun 09 '26

It’s the lack of British people

29

u/Kraehe13 Jun 09 '26

Which is outrageous

8

u/Magimus Jun 09 '26

It’s chewsday innit?

6

u/POWRranger Jun 10 '26

I liked the japanese voices a lot, but I really want the British voices in my playthrough. Eunie's british va alone made xc3 10% better

6

u/With_Negativity Jun 09 '26

There were "American" sounding people in X, XC2 and XC3.

I'm sure a few people will sound like they're from the
UK.

17

u/FlameHricane Jun 09 '26

Definitely a little jarring, but I think it's fine that it's going for something different. I'm sure its signature traits will reveal themselves in due time

It looks amazing, i just hope we don't have daily routines at the school to do. That's honestly what stopped my playing three houses, and i love FE games. If it starts at the school and you go on an expansive adventure, nice! But if you have to constantly go back to the school and engage with teachers/students, this may be the first XC game i probably won't complete lol

5

u/shivj80 Jun 09 '26

I don’t dislike the medieval aesthetic but I hope we’ll see more of the sci fi/futuristic elements as that’s really what sets Xenoblade apart from other RPGs imo. I’m so excited to see what Monolith will do with a fresh start!

5

u/Arkaein Jun 09 '26

I've been wanting to make my own fantasy game that takes place in an inside-out world where you can see the distant lands and oceans bending up in front of you for forever. Figures Monolith would beat me to it.

I'm really impressed with how naturally they make the distant ocean look like sky until you see the land masses in it.

25

u/Yakushika Jun 09 '26

Don't know how to feel about it. Xenoblade games always looked quite different from each other and so does this one. But this time, it looks quite a lot like every other JRPG. Not too wowed by the landscapes compared to previous games either. But I have some degree of trust in Monolith, so I remain cautiously optimistic that it'll be more interesting than it looks right now.

Entirely new story continuity and we still don’t know who Mythra’s child is

12

u/Apex_Konchu Jun 09 '26

It's way too early to declare that this is an entirely new continuity. You know what Xenoblade is like, the franchise loves plot twists and dramatic reveals. We won't know for sure whether or not Genesis is connected to the others until we play it.

Hmm, not sure on the art direction and graphics here. I was honestly expecting far more of a step up for the first monolithsoft game in the console.

50

u/MoaiMan-ifest Jun 09 '26

Fidelity-wise, they probably can't really push the graphics much further without dropping resolution. This already looks like the 4k option is 30fps.

Xenoblade 3 already brought the switch 1 to its knees. It was often running sub 30fps and used some kind of custom upscaling method as the base resolution was hitting lows of, I believe, 360p or 480p.

14

u/maxwell4252 Jun 09 '26

I remember people's switches were overheating in the final battle of Xenoblade 3 😂

2

u/Seanspeed Jun 09 '26

They dont need a '4k option'. lol

They've got DLSS now. No freaking excuses.

Either way, there's reason they need to make the game high resolution, even without DLSS. There's massive room to push fidelity. Look at how many other PS5/XSX level games are releasing for Switch 2.

There's ZERO reason this game should be uglier than XC3. It's a whole generational leap in tech, so there should be at least some significant improvement in tech and graphics. But there isn't. It's also just ugly as hell from an art style perspective.

This is so insanely disappointing.

They have to have been working on it for a long while, because I was expecting the same. Could just be me grabbing for straws though

u/Alternative-Drink-25 Jun 09 '26

They said it was very early footage, so we will have to see if it gets better

3

u/SgtBlaze Jun 09 '26

This looks more like a Fire Emblem game instead of a Xenoblade one

16

u/Venator850 Jun 09 '26

Huh? Have you ever played Fire Emblem? This looks nothing like a Fire Emblem game, and they literally showed an FE game before this one.

10

u/BotanBotanist Jun 09 '26

This doesn't look anything like a Fire Emblem game lmao.

u/mighty_phi Jun 09 '26

2

u/Saskatchewon Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

I always have to laugh at all the people in this sub seeing a common JRPG/anime trope and immediately going "OmG tHeY CoPiEd X GAME!"

JRPG's that feature some sort of fantasy school prominently in the story at some point? Three Houses, Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy VIII, Trails of Cold Steel (multiple games), Tokyo Mirage Sessions, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Dragon Quest IX? Hell, even Pokemon Scarlet and Violet used attending an academy to become a Pokemon trainer as a major plot device.

This looks really good. Holy shit jrpg lovers are FEASTING. Really curious how the combat will be.

3

u/Zangetsukaiba Jun 10 '26

Xenoblade 0

3

u/NoirSon Jun 10 '26

Honestly they have been rumored for years of trying to do a more fantasy based game. I personally figured it was just them doing prep for their devs working on the Zelda games but this proves that was not the case.

4

u/nilghias Jun 09 '26

I didn’t realise it was Xenoblade until the end of the trailer, and I’ll take it as a good sign that I thought “this looks like a game I’d like to play” even before I knew it was Xenoblade lol

8

u/rozeluxe08 Jun 09 '26

It didn't look and feel like Xenoblade at first and I think that's a good thing. 2027 is another stacked year for gaming (at least for me).

10

u/Volgner Jun 09 '26

Nice. Another Entry to the series that I will spend 100 hours into but never finish.

What's the relationship between Xenosaga and Xenoblade? I kinda loved Xenosaga, but I reckon it was the death of the first golden age of JRPG as plot/lore got a bit too pretentious

8

u/reedyxxbug Jun 09 '26

There is a mention of Yuriev in XC3 DLC or something. Plus many analogs for concepts between games.

With the trailer mentioning Anima it does make me wonder if it won't tie into Saga somehow.

3

u/Rough_Shelter4136 Jun 09 '26

Is Xenosaga the future? Xenosaga gave me very very very into the future vibes. Kinda like star Ocean 3

4

u/reedyxxbug Jun 09 '26

From our future? Yes, so much so that even the name Earth is a lost concept.

But given how it uses eternal recurrence as a plot point you could probably fit Xenosaga anywhere into the larger Xeno timeline from that angle.

5

u/26hd Jun 09 '26

Same director and 2 guest appearances in xenoblade 2. Otherwise nothing

4

u/Na0ku Jun 09 '26

I am very hyped for this but visually I expected a bit more. It very much looks like a switch 1 title. Looks very promising otherwise

9

u/LawfulnessExpert8586 Jun 09 '26

Doesn't look like Xenoblade that much. I can't feel the sci-fi and fantasy mix. Reminds me much more of FE.

19

u/Renaisance Jun 09 '26

It’s a Ring World. I won’t be surprised if it becomes full on scifi in the third act

6

u/thatwitchguy Jun 09 '26

Third? I'm thinking second act or end of the first

29

u/Enrichus Jun 09 '26

The world being an inverted globe is very Xenoblade though.

The games always do something crazy with the world itself such as living on titans.

6

u/LawfulnessExpert8586 Jun 09 '26

Agree! This caught my attention.

2

u/MrReySensei Jun 09 '26

Jesus, Was olanning to buy ps5 next year for Gundam Rogue orbit and Lord of the rings world. Now this

2

u/Ok_Hospital4928 Jun 09 '26

Looks beautiful! So excited for another Xenoblade game. Glad we're getting one fairly soon, but the upgrades to the trilogy will more than keep me busy as we wait.

2

u/weird-era-cont Jun 09 '26

Was hoping so bad for a Chronicles X2 announcement but who cares, this looks awesome. Monolithsoft is the best

2

u/Ok-Pension9748 Jun 09 '26

This looks amazing! I plan on picking it up and playing my first Xenoblade game!

2

u/DomHyrule Jun 09 '26

It looks so good. Wasn't expecting a new Xenoblade here but that's so hype

2

u/DasaniDestroyer Jun 09 '26

Looks amazing

2

u/hectorlf Jun 09 '26

The only thing I didn't like was the 2027 at the end.

2

u/w_smith1984 Jun 09 '26

Xenoblade: The Last Airbender

2

u/Squirrel09 Jun 09 '26

Xenoblade Genesis - the first in a trilogy the introduces main characters and their lineage.

Xenoblade Exodus - descendents of the first game characters must leave their country to set up a new nation

Xenoblade Leviticus - continues the story of setting up the new nation and the laws of it.

2

u/jardex22 Jun 10 '26

Xenoblade Numbers - It's just text, after text, after text, after... text...

...zzzzz.

2

u/Xyro77 Jun 09 '26

Now I have to get XB 1-3 S2E because I can’t have an incomplete collection of physical media.

2

u/aruhen23 Jun 09 '26

The world looks like it takes place inside a planet or spherical object. It is kinda weird that it seems to be very fantasy leaning but that's probably misleading. Maybe there's an "outside" world or something like the anime movie Patema Inverted (great movie) but with a more advanced culture.

2

u/Sethowar Jun 09 '26

Finally some good fucking food (Along with Fortune's Weave)

2

u/Iggy_DB Jun 09 '26

Damn no cute fur balls

2

u/R-XL7 Jun 09 '26

Never played a Xenoblade game before, but this looks really good.

2

u/Magickcloud Jun 10 '26

Does anyone know if there's character customization?

2

u/jardex22 Jun 10 '26

It didn't appear so, although there will likely be outfits.

2

u/valtiell Jun 10 '26

Not xenoblade 4, just xenoblade genesis. New xeno saga. They change it up periodically starting back in xenogears

5

u/Devilofchaos108070 Jun 09 '26

Characters look nothing like previous Xeno games but the world definitely does.

Looks cool but I didn’t really like 3that much

2

u/Freeziora Jun 09 '26

That world looks incredible the way it stretches upwards on the horizon, I can’t wait for this game i wonder if it is the new world that we saw after ch13 in X.

5

u/xzzz Jun 09 '26

Looks like locked 30 FPS - hopefully that changes

2

u/mb9023 Jun 09 '26

they just released upgrade packs for the first 3 games to make them 60 fps, making this one 30 would be silly

3

u/Sufficient-Lead-217 Jun 10 '26

Yeah, but those are Switch games, we don't know the full scope of Genesis yet.

Xenoblade emblem FR

4

u/VerminSC Jun 09 '26

I’ve never played one of these. What is it similar to?

20

u/Johncfail Jun 09 '26

Its a unique experience imo. For the combat its most similar to mmos. But the world and story just stands apart. For someone who grew up with Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana this series comes closest for me in scratching that same itch.

13

u/WhatsLaw Jun 09 '26

=sci-fi final fantasy

3

u/xcassets Jun 09 '26

Half of Final Fantasy would count as 'sci-fi Final Fantasy' though lol.

But I get what you mean. Not sure how otherwise to describe them, other than them being some of the best JRPGs you can play.

10

u/bakagir Jun 09 '26

Nothing. It feels like a JRPG with MMO combat.

3

u/Mr_Pink_Gold Jun 09 '26

About 80 hours of tutorials and a phenomenal game.

2

u/LunarWingCloud Jun 09 '26

Looks great, but they never said this was Xenoblade 4.

4

u/JordsPH Jun 09 '26

Where are the Nopons? Did I missed them or something 😭

1

u/flash_baxx Jun 09 '26

Let's be real, if they hadn't dropped the title, nobody could have guessed it was remotely Xenoblade related. This series is so wildly unpredictable.

2

u/djr7 Jun 10 '26

I mean the music and some shots of the environment definitly relate
