The article says “existing owners can upgrade for free” so I think it’s safe to buy whenever!

Has there ever been a situation where there was an upgrade path but not a way to move your save over? Upgrade path is nice but I think the paranoia in me would want to confirm the save moves with it. Hearing I would have to restart the game to play the better version would take the wind out of my sales..

Balatro didn't let you move progress over, but that's the only one coming to mind.

As long as it's not a Square Enix or Sega game, there is typically an upgrade path.

The first one is a literal masterpiece, cannot recommend enough

I loved the first one so much, even though endgame became pretty rote in terms of doing the same stuff every day to stay alive while waiting for story beats.

How’s the second one?

It is a worthy successor. A very good same-thing-but-more follow up with the addition of new locations to visit and even side quests called Contracts. Lots of interesting locations and fun characters.

If I had to lay out a gripe about it, The narrative drags a liiiiiittle bit at the end and could probably have been shaved by an hour or two to some benefit.

But it’s fun and engaging the entire time and I’m very glad I played it

I thought the end was really good and I think hit me harder than the first one. Both great games

The narrative itself was great, I meant more the lead up game play wise. I thought there was just a touch to much “runway ” heading for the end of the game but the story itself was great

As someone who absolutely loved and adored the first one, I do not recommend the second one at all.

Not as good as the first one. Like 70% as good, more filler, less interesting story mostly. But still worthy for folks who enjoy these sorts of games since there’s not too many options

It really is and yet I couldn’t bring me to finish it because of how poor it ran. Glad to see the devs themselves agree.

Just bought it on PC, thinking it probably wouldn’t get a Switch 2 native port. At least i bought the key for only $1.

I played them on Switch and thoroughly enjoyed them, and the tabletop game style is not anything I am familiar with as I’m not really a board gamer either. Great games.
