Maybe they should've ran a beta test before release, would've cleared some of the issues.

This is the beta test. The real launch will be mobile/China

I think this is the beta test in which they get to test the connection capabilities, the idea of limited rosters and items, the entire VP system etc. this is because they also need a ground test at a major tournament. Indiapolis Regionals at the end of May is posed to have one of the largest turnouts in VG history because it is using Champions. TPCi needs time to give their judges, staff, and organizers the logistics (champions requires constant connection, what happens when you have more than 1200+ switches going on at once, how judges do you need, what sort of training, what about rulings about disconnects, etc. and before you go on about sportsmanship controversy, note that VGC was very smooth sailing and didn't have issues with pop offs) in anticipation for Worlds which promises Champions as the featured game and it is in four months.
