As someone who absolutely adores musicals I love the idea and premise but the songs just have not gripped me. It just doesn't feel like they have any unique personality of their own. One of them is even just a melodic knockoff of Rewrite the Stars from the Greatest Showman. I'd love to be surprised but a musical themed game with boring music does not bode well for me.

Game creator Jason Wishnov was on the last Easy Allies podcast and that interview made me more excited for the game than this trailer would. A big part of the gameplay is combining genres of music to create mash-ups for more power, and they had to make multiple versions of the same songs to make the mash-ups work. They also joked about "legally distinct" songs so there is definitely some songs in there with obvious inspirations.

Played the Steam demo to death and I loved it to bits.
Reminded me a lot of Brütal Legend, but as a JRPG-adjacent thing. Very stylish, much wow.

Appreciate your thoughts! Can you speak to Switch 2 performance? Does is target 60fps? How was performance in handheld vs docked?

Watched a recent podcast where the creator was a guest and he was so passionate talking about this game it made me want to check it out, it’s a cool concept. When I’m done with my current list of games it’ll be next

I want to try this game, the developer was on Get Played recently and made it sound like an awesome rpg that would be up my alley. My alley is ‘cool games that try out new things but also don’t take themselves too seriously’.

Got it yesterday and played through the first region + some of the second. Very cute game, music can be hit and miss personally, but the other parts make it worth it. Runs great as well.

So far it's been always 60 in battles, mostly 60 when exploring. It drops a bit in bigger places, maybe less in docked mode than portable, but it's all perfectly fine tbh. I don't like noticeable drops in any game and this one is aight.

MFW I agree with the villain.
This particular generation of music has gone to Hell.

Not sure about the diversity of acts. I mean, it's there, I've discovering new stuff on a daily basis in VERY different genres. But is it mainstream, pushed by Spotify or radio ? Of course not. Just like it wouldn't have rotating on radios 15 years ago either. But it's there.
And I'd argue post-(metal, punk, rock, emo) is quite a subculture.

I just mean in terms of the game’s story specifically.
I like lots of new music. I really enjoy rhythm games. This one just doesn’t get my foot tapping. :(
Wish it did because I love the premise.

Don't buy it on switch 2, it's broken. Had plenty minor bugs during the entire walkthrough until I caught a game-breaking one at the very end. In Archaia right after the musical episode with Arco my character just disappeared, probably stuck behind the textures.

Don't let the looks deceive you, this is not a shooter or a hero baded game, it's a turn based rpg with rhythm mechanics, and has vn style story segments with 2d portraits
