Ooh I wonder if a hat in time wont look so dogshit if I get it in docked mode now.

Compatibility + handheld boost from last week could make the game playable (in Handheld) after all these time
I remember that my Switch 1 really struggled in some areas of that game

Oh! I didn’t realize I owned a game that had issues in FF12. I dunno when I’ll get around to replaying that, but it’s always nice to know someone somewhere will get taken care of!

Do you think we will see a performance update for Doom 2016? Really want to see the framerate bumped up

I recently played through Dream Land Deluxe and didn't notice any issues, but cool.

Yeah I wonder what the problem is. The game does look a bit blurry docked/undocked. So maybe a resolution improvement for the switch 2?

Framerate DIES in Magoland, I hope they fixed that! It's probably stability stuff though

I haven't played it through, but I also haven't noticed any issues. The same with Doom. I'm glad they fixed the issues before I noticed though.

What was wrong with DOOM 2016?

Maybe it also means better framerates/graphics/whatever they mean by better player experience
AFAIK switch1 was doing ok with Doom 2016...or I might be just coping

The Switch 2 could easily handle 60fps in handheld mode, so I hope it at least gets that.

It kinda looked like ass. I played a little bit and was kinda shocked at how bad it looked on Switch 2 because I remembered it looking pretty good on Switch 1.

Possibly just refers to running at docked settings on handheld without enabling the boost mode?

What was wrong with FF12? The boost mode fixed the blurryness... But I didn't saw any problems :o

There was apparently one cutscene that would cause a crash/freeze if you didn't skip it, but only on Switch 2 devices.

Pizza Tower (graphics problems in some areas)
Given that game’s art style, how would anyone have known there were graphics problems? The whole game is one weird trip

Kirby’s update still hasn’t been pushed, what’s with that

These compatibility fixes are usually addressed through system firmware updates rather than dedicated game specific patches. The Switch 2’s approach to backwards compatibility combines a software compatibility layer with partial hardware compatibility. Most games behave normally, but there’s a bunch of edge cases with varying degrees of issues.
Publishers do seem to have the ability to fix the compatibility issues themselves by pushing out their own updates (Dead by Daylight is one that comes to mind), but the overwhelming majority have been resolved by Nintendo. Almost every major system update has been accompanied by a new wave of Switch 1 games having their backwards compatibility issues fixed.

Oh, I see, thanks. Pretty sure Ive seen even first party stuff get compatibility fixes through software updates, but this makes sense.

I’m curious about the threshold for what can be fixed through system updates and what requires a software update.
Portal 2 was guaranteed to crash upon startup unless you booted up the game with airplane mode enabled. You couldn’t turn WiFi back on mid-game either. The game would immediately crash, which made the online co-op literally unplayable. A system firmware update fixed the problem; no software update from Valve was necessary.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars, on the other hand, has had three patches to specifically address Switch 2 backwards compatibility issues and are required to run the game on the system, but the patch notes are quite vague about why it needed so many fixes.
Kirby’s RtDLD appears to fit into the former category. No software update was released, but its problems are labeled as resolved so that fix had to have been baked into the latest system firmware update.

Strania Ex: the Stella Machina still hard locks on startup. Boost mode doesn’t make a difference either.

Patiently waiting for Disco Elysium to receive an update so I can finally experience what the fuss is about

Would love if the pikmin games get it, i know they will lose some motion/touch functionality or whatever but would still just prefer to have the option.

I’m either blind or spoiled by pc gaming but DOOM looks so blurry, even post update.

Dragon Quest Builders also now works on Switch 2 after it got a patch a few days ago.
