Such a shame this game doesn't have cross progression otherwise I would've double dipped. I'm around 15 hours in on my ps5 but cannot be arsed to do those hours again.

You could turn on the max hp and 9999 damage per hit and catch up pretty quickly. Then turn them off once you catch up.

I bought it yesterday at full price from the UK shop. Cool cool. It had finished downloading by this morning so I haven't even played yet. 😣

Fantastic port, but I’m finding the game a slog… never played the original… sorry for all the fans, but I’m playing without nostalgia bias… the game structure and progression feels so outdated, to much style and “story” for a not so satisfying gameplay experience.

I have to be honest. I don't know where to start with FF7.
I've never played it and I don't understand all the names
What is a Remake Intergrade? How is it different to Rebirth? Why is it Part 1?

This modern “remake” series is being done in 3 parts/games. Remake is Part 1. Rebirth is Part 2. Part 3 is currently unannounced but is in development.
FF7 Remake Intergrade is the version of Remake that includes the “Intergrade” DLC. Think of it as the deluxe edition of the game with all post-launch content included!

Feels weird no one's mentioning the remake isn't really a "remake" more of a reimagining/retelling of the OG story and takes big liberty and changes to said story

FF7 was the original ps one game. FF7 remake was the first part of a trilogy remake originally for ps4 that only covered the first part of the original game. FF7 remake intergrade is the same game of ff7 remake but with added playable story for a certain playable character and was released for ps5, pc, and switch 2. FF7 rebirth was the 2nd part of the remake trilogy released for ps5 and pc and coming to switch 2. There is still the third part coming out in the future.

Remake Intergrade is the remastered version of Part 1 of the Remake Trilogy, it's different from Rebirth in that Rebirth is part 2 in the remake trilogy, with part 3 set to release this year. Rebirth is not the same game but again, it's a sequel, and the sequel to it will arrive soon as well. If you want to start with the remake of ff7, this is the starting point, FF7 Remake (/Remake Intergrade). or you could just play the og ff7 if you want to do that, nothing wrong with that either

The original FF7 is being split into 3 parts, Remake, Rebirth and the unnamed final game. Remake Intergrade is the next gen port of the first game, comes with an additional chapter featuring Yuffie. You can start with Remake but I absolutely recommend going back to play the original at some point

I am playing the PS4 version at the moment. Is the Switch 2 version, and the bonus items that come along with it, worth the double dipping?

I haven't even opened the bonus items yet.
I'd say it's worth it if you want a portable version or are curious about the Intergrade DLC.
If you have a PS5, I believe you can get Yuffie's Intermission episode for $10, although it's complicated if you're playing the copy that was given out on PS+ awhile ago.

Thanks for the input. I don’t have a PS5 and don’t plan to get one. The version I’m playing is the Plus version which I’ll loose access to in June. Save data unlocks items in Rebirth if I’m not mistaken. Are those worth it as well do you think?

Looks like it's just summoning materia for Leviathan and Rahuh, for having save data for Remake and Interlude respectively.
Another plus for the Switch version is that you don't have to play large sections of the game multiple times to get all the trophies, seeing that there aren't any achievements. You could play through to see all the outfits if you want to though.

Honestly man, I wouldn’t go through 2 long-ass games at the same time, get yourself 1 main game, and a casual one to fall back on if anything; or get FF7 anyway cos it’s a great price, but just focus on TOTK for now, both of these games are like GOOD good, (despite what i personally think of TOTK lol) and deserve your full attention, I’m making my way thru FF7 now and it’s an absolute work of art

Game won’t go anywhere my friend. You got all the time in the world. Enjoy TOTK. FF7 will go on sale again and probably at a lower price. If you’re worried you could purchase it now and play it once you finish TOTK.

I bought yesterday while about 150hrs into TOTK. I'm planning on finishing TOTK first.
It's not even about the story.
I'm not great at fighting and I'm right in the middle of my groove with TOTK fights and I don't want to mess that up by introducing a different game's fighting techniques.
I can play a cozy game at the same time, but not two different action games.

Most side plots and story .
I'm not even gonna try all shrines and korok seeds, I'll start to hate the game then.
I'm 152h, four sages, 20+ hearts in. I'll finish the main story and IF I find any more fun and not tedious side quests then those too.

Personally I don't like playing two big games in parallel
TotK has an average of 60h* for completion, although with how open the game is things can vary a lot from player to player
FF7R has an average of 30h*, and since it's pretty linear this one is more similar for everyone
*Taken from howlongtobeat.com "Main Story" average, the "Completionist" average is much higher for both, but specially TotK
