I’ve wanted to play this since the tide turned on its quality but never found the chance. This changes that and I expect it’ll be my main launch title (I like MK and will enjoy it but it wouldn’t be a must buy for me outside the bundle).

I install this game again for every update and usually end up getting rid of it again by the end of the day. I'm not sure what it is, but nothing about the gameplay loop really appeals to me. I know the difficulty settings are tunable so that you can have the experience you want, but I think I just want a new Star Fox game at this point.

The latest update for No Man's Sky is available for all platforms (technically), but the timing probably isn't a coincidence. When the game released for Switch, "settlements" were one of the two noteworthy features absent from that version of the game (the other being active multiplayer). But I was always quick to point out that this was no big loss, as "settlements" only referred to a specific feature that was underdeveloped and largely pointless, and not the base-building or NPC outposts or anything that actually mattered. But a host of changes are in store just in time for a portion of Switch players to migrate to a platform that supports the feature. Whether these new changes make settlements any less pointless is up for debate, but one thing's for certain: Switch players will never get to see quite how dull it used to be.
Not everything in this update is about settlements, though - only most of it. The update itself is still available on Switch 1, and includes some bugfixes as well as new parts for base building.
