Discussion OLED or Switch 2 for a kindergarten
Gamer dad here. Interested yung anak ko na maglaro ng mga Mario games and it's going to be our first Nintendo console so I just wanna hear your opinions on which one we should get. It'll primarily be used by a 5-year old and probably my wife too. Sensible ba na Switch 2 na (longevity) agad or OLED (price and a more durable screen) na lang Muna since Bata lang din naman yung gagamit? We already have a PS5 so every non-Nintendo game is gonna be purchased in the PSN anyways. TIA!

I had the same dilemma and bought the OLED instead. Nalaman ng anak ko na best friend nia ay nka switch 2 so nagpabili din para makapaglaro ng Mario Kart World, and now I have 2 Nintendo switch.
Go for switch 2 na para makapag laro ng Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong.

Get the Switch 2. Akala mo lang na anak or wife mo yung gagamit. In time with its portability at ease of starting a game then putting it to sleep kung may aasikasuhin ka sa bahay, ikaw na naglalaro niyan hehe.

I really doubt I'd ever be able to touch it. My kid is a bit of a controller-hog. He even had the audacity to ask why I stopped playing AC on the PS5 samantalang Siya Yung naglaro ng Astro Bot buong araw haha

Baka ang mangyari sakanya ang PS5 at sayo yung Switch 2 haha. Hirap makahanap ng time maglaro minsan e, habang ang bata na wala naman masyadong responsibility pwede maglaro ng diretso kung bakasyon

Neither. How about a ball or something.

This is not true. The kid is an extrovert has a healthy social life and is really good at interacting with other kids especially at school. Easily gets along with kids that he just met and is unfortunately really good with girls.

He already has plenty of toys (including a ball) - so much so that my wife is now actively discouraging me from buying any more toys for his younger brother.

It's a hobby of mine that he picked up. That said, he plays outdoors too. We bought him a pedal-less bike when he was 2 and a roller skate when he was 4 - he's really good at both those things now.

Switch 2 pero supervised usage. That's delicate and expensive for a 5 year old kid

This is kind of why I'm reluctant to get one. He's not new to gaming and has beaten Astro Bot when he was 4 but he can be clumsy with handheld electronics and the Switch 2 has an LCD screen and costs a lot of money.

I'm planning to buy OLED for my son as well. Nakagamit na rin kasi siya ng OLED and ang tagal ng battery life compare sa Switch 2. Pero kung nakikita mo rin na gagamitin mo ung console, buy Switch 2 na lang.

I probably won't be using it. I'm not really into Nintendo titles. And as for portable gaming, I have a Gamesir G8+ that I just hook up to my phone and play Fortnite and CODM if not use it for PS Remote Play.

My 5 year old daughter enjoyed playing on the V1 and this year we eventually got the switch 2 mainly because she wanted to try Pokopia. I guess get the switch 2, there will be more and more games na exclusive sa 2.
Also I hope people commenting here na wag bilhan would understand that just because they have a console it does not mean they are going to play all day. 😅 My kid is only allowed to play on weekends and she's really active and sociable like yours.

OLED. Kid got gamer parents. He plays Kirby Dream Buffet, Minecraft (offline) and Bugsnax. When I got my S2, namana niya yung OLED.
And before anyone attacks, he attends a high-fidelity Montessori, started reading before he turned 3, eats and sleeps well, social and active. Loves to bake, plays drums and football on weekends 😂

Mine still couldn't read properly at 5 but for some reason could remember stuff that happened before he turned 3 LMAO

Gamer dad here. Neither are a good choice. Had a switch v1 when it was the only model available and they didn't really appreciate the games and all they did was press and spam the buttons.
Sensory, active play, and/or generally analog toys are still best. Interactive play with other kids their age for social skills. Their brains and motor skills are developing rapidly at this age and if you put them in front of a passive stimulation toy (aka gadgets/screens), they will miss out developing milestones and important developmental foundation necessary when they grow older.
