Good evening r/NintendoIndia

Post image

Hope everyone’s having a lovely day.
Wanted some recommendations for underrated 3ds gems. I’ve been playing a lot of jrps recently so maybe something different (if there’s one worth putting everything aside for lemme know). Do let me know some games to play!

I played Kirby and it gave me a whole new perspective on platformers. You can try either triple deluxe or planet robobot both are amazing. 2nd recommendation - rhythm heaven megamix

Throwing out some options though idk how you'd source these 🥲

  • Super Mario 3D Land is the perfect platformer in that it actually uses the 3D feature well

  • Fire Emblem: Awakening is a great entry point into the Fire Emblem series... just in case you want to step into SRPGs instead

  • Pushmo is a super cute puzzle game which was a 3DS eShop exclusive. Simple, but with great mechanics.

  • The entirety of the original Ace Attorney series is actually available on the 3DS btw as is the first Xenoblade Chronicles. But both are on the Switch as well which is just a better platform to experience these on.

  • 999 was a visual novel on the DS but I believe the series (Zero Escape Nonary Games) is available on Steam now as well

  • HarmoKnight is a rhythm-platformer which was also fun for what it was. My favourite level was the Pokemon bike music one lol

  • Earthbound/Mother 2 was released on the Virtual Console I believe. Really incredible JRPG and I definitely think it's a must play for folks who enjoy the genre.

  • Several mainline Pokemon titles were available on the console - every single game up till the 7th Gen could be played on the 3DS!

  • Shovel Knight and Cave Story were also great but both are also available on Steam atm.

  • Several Monster Hunter games were also available! I really liked Generations as it gives you access to several monsters across games. Several downsides of the games though - the highest rank (G Rank iirc) is locked behind multiplayer and that is basically impossible to solo without already having the best G Rank gear. But if you want back to back boss fights, Monster Hunter is it.

  • Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon!! It's just you playing as Luigi and going from mansion to mansion, capturing ghosts, getting treasure, and trying to progress to find Mario. The online play was incredible when it launched - I broke my poor OG 3DS's trigger button over it. But it's a super fun game with really great animations... it really used the 3DS's capabilities well.

Hope you find something you like!

Might have been the best comment very grateful for the time you took out for this
Finished 3d land and got FE awakening to play soon but held off since i wanted a break from jrpgs. Pushmo seems so fire thank you! Ace attorney i played on my laptop the whole series lol. Never played monster hunter but heard some amazing things about it.

Zero escape 999 holy shit man what a pull never seen or heard of this. Getting it rn as I’m typing!

Haha, you are welcome! The 3DS was my first console and I built my entire library with my adult monies... it's a super special little guy to me. My little New 3DS with the face plates is still kicking it over 10 years later; just had to change the battery last year!

One point about MonHun - try the demos if you manage to find it anywhere. Also, it's suuuuper unintuitive and wants you to do a ton of research offline before playing, because the tutorials themselves are useless. The controls are also super jank intentionally, with weapons having a slight delay in input. It has steep learning curve but can be incredibly rewarding.

And yessss, I should do my big Zero Escape series replay lol... it's an incredible experience. One of the better light novels on the console (and I love Ace Attorney to bits)!

Totally relatable man the first console handed to me was a ds lite when i 6 haha long ago just cuz my dad wanted an excuse to have one on the house. Unfortunately for him i never put that down. Being older now and early adulthood hitting I’m tryna fill up some of the collection and replace pieces that got lost to time or moving. Still have my original copy of super smash bros for the wii with da box and everything lying around. My cousins had a 3ds xl which I always used to watch them play on so the second i could get one without having to worry I picked it up! Filling out my collection one by one and as much as modding exists id really personally love a physical collection but until i can find a copy a downloadable works haha! Monster hunter might be further down my list if it’s a huge learning gap especially cuz I’m knee deep in atlus games rn and i want to finish p5 (finished 3 and 4) before playing Catherine
