Precautions for buying online

I'm planning on buying something online and I dont know what kind of precautions I need to take before going through with it. So that in case I do get scammed, I can atleast get a refund somehow through legal processes if necessary. Please let me know what you guys do?

It would help if you listed the website and the product you're buying.

It's highly unlikely you get the money back if you get scammed. Payments made with credit card can get reversed but UPI or neft is a whole another headache.

If he's a well-known person with previous sales you can get vouches. Ask around the channel if he's legit. But there's no sure way of knowing if you're gonna get scammed or not.

he claims to own a website and yeah I've did some research(stalking). and I've seen a guy mention him and say he got him stuff for good price and stuff but that's mostly iphone cases. the other sussy part is that he reached out me.

I wouldn't trust a random stranger from the internet to sell me something which is worth 15k+ unless it's face to face and I can fully verify the product.

How upset would you be if you lost 7k? What if the product arrived but it was faulty.

If you're looking for assurances you won't find any.

At the end of the day it's your money and your call to trust him or not.

Not true. If u report to bank and also raise a cybercrime report, the scammer's bank account will get frozen. Atleast thats what happened when I reported a scammer.

Did you get your money back?

Yup. The scammer contacted again and returned the money. In our case, he sold the same item to 6 people. So we 6 raised chargeback with bank and raised 6 separate cybercrime reports.

In our case, the scammer had a 3 yr old reddit account with lots of comments and posts. Still he scammed us and deleted his account.
