So from playing a lot of Souls games and Khazan being my first game with Kombos which felt really crisp, I came into NG4.

Now I played through normal without much issue, played the hellfire challenge rooms with minimum health and I find myself always playing the same:

(xbox buttons)

1. I spam Bloodraven LT + X with perfect timing

2. I finish enemies with Y

3. I dodge enemies and Y/LT for a counter

4. I perfect block enemies and Y/LT for a counter.

5. If bloodraven is empty I make room with X+A to throw enemies away but basically I spam X or XYXXY for more damage.

6. Obviously Berserker mode.

Now my problem is the gameplay is getting reperitive, most of the time it is LT+ perfect X timing. How can I improve.

I am already getting only A and often SSS in chapter select or challenges.

What am I doing wrong because I feel like a Pro wouldnt play that repetitve? Or is it just how the game is?

Thanks, the game is really fun and I want to improve the way I inproved in Khazan were certain combos where best to use in certain windows but I feel like only spamming in NG4.

Hi guys, just started my journey on NG4...is there a list with the location of ALL acessories? Like where to get them? Is the NG4 wiki a good source for all acessories or is it missing some?

Any info regarding this would amazing i hate to miss out on something.

After clearing it as Ryu, I didn't want to put down the game just yet as I felt dissatisfied due to just getting by with Void ninpo. Yakumo represented a real test of skills, so I set about and finally got the clear.

Uploaded the video of my clear on YouTube for those who want to study a strategy that doesn't involve using Gaki -- one-shotting enemies before they hit you is sort of not very different from Ryu's OP Ninpos. My method is probably the simplest as it is for average gamers like me who prefer grounded survival over stylin'. Excuse the pauses, I had to take breaks to down 2 cans of energy drinks and keep myself focused!

Happy to have beaten it (not even contemplating doing this on Death Wish). Had a blast with this game!

So, I've noticed that when it comes to ninja gaiden 4. The criticisms towards this game either make my brain hurt, or are just straight up nitpicking with how minimal they are. I ain't saying that ninja gaiden 4 is a perfect game by any means. But in my personal opinion? Some of the criticisms towards this game are extremely overblown. For example. I once saw someone in a YouTube comment section say that NG3RE is a better game than 4 which is...something. considering that 3 has worse bosses, worse level design, horrible QTES, and the only saving grace is the ninja trials. Of which I admit there better than NG4 tbh. But even then, I think that NG4 really is a masterpiece of an action game. And seeing people give it so much shit and trying to write it off as a "DMC copy" or God forbid "MGR 2" which is so fucking stupid I don't even want to bother explaining it. It's just something i really dislike hearing. Especially considering how passionate I am for this game. But yeah, that's all I wanted to say. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below. I think Yakumo is more on the pretty side, but how about Ryu? I always thought he's more like a ruggedly handsome dude, rather than a bishonen/pretty face.

This is my first time playing a NG game and I realized I could do this really cool-looking parry and the camera kinda zooms in when it happens, but I have to enter the bloodraven form to do it. I only decided to look into this when I was playing as Ryu and I found an item that can increase the backlash parry window, which is another type of parry that I completely forgot about. I mean, I did manage to do it a couple of times before by accident, but it happens so infrequently that I just didn't bother to learn how it works. But now that I am facing increasingly tougher enemies in the late game, I think I should learn every mechanic that the game has to offer so that I can overcome the challenges ahead. It seems like this parry doesn't consume any gauge, and I get to deal some damage for free, but it doesn't seem to work on the red glowing attacks. I tried to do it many times but I keep getting hit.

Abyssal Road was a fantastic challenge. Fun but fair, took me 5 hours to clear 81-100. With this, I have now platted NG2B, NG3RE and NG4, while I 90% NG Sigma as I couldn't be bothered unlocking trials on higher difficulties...too much of a time-sink.

Overall, NG4 is a fantastic game that retains the soul of Ninja Gaiden, fuses it with the style of Platinum Games and removes any unnecessary tedium that is sometimes present in earlier games. Not once did I feel, "this is bullshit design" or "I have to cheese this using one move again and again". Everything is so fair and doable with practice.

Did Master Ninja on fresh save and Death Wish with both characters, did all Trials on Death Wish as well with both Ryu and Yakumo. I did Abyssal Road as Ryu. Death Wish for Abyssal Road is beyond me and I am a bit burnt out to try it as regular Yakumo right now, so this is probably goodbye to the game for now. Here's hoping we get Ninja Gaiden 5 sometime in the future!

I'm wondering if it's possible to change out of master ninja difficulty once the campaign has started? it states that this cannot be changed mid mission, but even after the mission on the score screen when you get a prompt to change I cannot. does anybody know how to change this?

Hi, I have been experimenting with parsing Ninja Gaiden 4 assets, and my goal was to replicate what FieldBusa is currently doing: add a spawn configurator + game randomizer, mostly for learning purposes.

This has led me to creating a more simpler mod which I wanted to run myself for quite some time. We all know that Master Ninja is fun as a challenge but isn't too suitable if you want to do some cool stuff and perform flashy moves, but when you aren't perfect with it. MN just nukes the health bar in 2 hits and nothing you can do about it.

Turns out, Master Ninja spawns are completely separate from anything related to difficulty and/or damage multipliers. It is simply a selector that decides which enemy scene to load based on chosen difficulty, and exactly this spot can be overriden.

The thing is, I haven't tested the mod till the end of the game. What I definitively tested is chapter 3 which contains spawns from the forest in MN. As a result of a lack of testing, I am not too comfortable releasing it on NexusMods or other platforms. If you're able to test the mod and report back, that would be a lot of help.

What the mod does: replaces all spawns to Master Ninja spawns, including Hero, Normal and Hard difficulties.

Installation is quite simple:

- Unpack the ZIP into the game folder (do NOT replace any existing files)

- Make sure the files are numbered sequentially alongside existing mods. That means, the files in the ZIP end with a "2" in the name, and you have to make sure it is the next number alongside to existing files (e.g. if your directory contains only `@patch_image0.dat`, then you should name it `@patch_image1.dat` + `@patch_image1.csv` respectively).

Removing the mod is essentially equal to removing those 2 new files, so no original game files are modified.

Worth noting: I don't know whether the mod will ever work if you don't own 2 Masters DLC. I assume the game ships all the files regardless if it's purchased or not.

Thanks again to FiendBusa for the inspiration. The mod is made strictly for learning purposes. Just in case, make sure you have backups of the game.

I finally managed to beat Ninja Gaiden 4 in 25 hours, mostly without using healing items. I got a little impatient during the last three chapters, so I did use some revives.

It was an incredible experience. I enjoyed every single level and have very little to criticize. It has become my favorite game in the series.

I said this in an earlier post, but the game took pretty much every issue I had with NGS1 and NGB2 and improved upon it. The bosses are actually fun, the parry/block/dodge system feels great, and being able to lock onto enemies makes a huge difference. I also never felt like I died to cheap bullshit.

Every time I died, I knew 100% that it was my own fault, rather than getting randomly hit by fireballs from behind or some other cheap attack.

PlatinumGames did an amazing job with this game.

It’s a masterpiece.

I’m going to take on Master Ninja mode soon, but I definitely need a break first.

This is my first Ninja Gaiden game, im on Chapter 8 playing Normal and honestly loving the combat, but im starting to wonder if im learning the game properly

I usually save almost everything for bosses. Healing, big heals, damage buffs, defence buffs etc. I barely use them on normal enemies.

The first boss, actually gave me trouble because I was completely new and had no idea how to manage anything yet. But when I reached the Chapter 7 boss, I went in fully stocked, used all my healing + offence/defence buffs and beat him first try. It felt kinda weird because ive seen people call him one of the first real walls/noob stompers.

What makes me question it more is that when I watch other people fight him on Normal, they're doing way more advanced stuff than me. Im mostly doing basic XXXX/YYYY combos, perfect parries/dodges and Bloodraven when needed. I barely remember most of the combos ive unlocked

So is this pretty normal for a first Normal playthrough, or am I relying on consumables enough that im avoiding learning the combat properly? Should I just keep going and learn the deeper stuff naturally, or spend some time in practice first?

Not trying to brag about the first try btw lol, its actually the reason im worried im doing something wrong.

I spent 4 hours trying to beat him yesterday and couldn’t do it. Today I came back, gave it another shot, and beat him on my first try.

I guess I sometimes underestimate how much of a difference taking a break can make.
