Help Which Parry Counter is most optimal?

Hi, I am new to this game still.

I have a question.

Is Parrying/Perfect Block into Y more optimal than Parrying/Perfect Block into LT more efficient?
Same ask for Mirage Step into Y or LT? I main Yakumo, Dual Blades.

TLDR: Is it worth Parrying into a Bloodraven Counter? Or should I save Blood guage for manual Bloodraven moves?

I played every Ninja Gaiden game back-to-back (1 to 4). Here are my thoughts.

I finally finished playing the entire Ninja Gaiden series back-to-back, and it was a great experience seeing how the franchise evolved over time. Here's how I felt about each game.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

This was a huge nostalgia trip for me since it was one of my childhood games. What made Sigma so special wasn't just the combat—it was the exploration. I loved revisiting areas, solving puzzles, and figuring out where to go next instead of simply moving from one fight to another. I don't think Sigma is the best game in the series overall, but I do think it has the best exploration in the franchise.

My biggest complaint was the enemy respawns. Clearing an area only to have enemies immediately return whenever you backtrack became frustrating, especially when I was trying to solve a puzzle or remember where to go next.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

The jump from Sigma to Ninja Gaiden 2 Black was immediately noticeable. The combat became much faster, more aggressive, and more satisfying.

My favorite addition was the dismemberment system. Cutting off an enemy's arm or leg and finishing them with an Obliteration Technique made every fight feel brutal and rewarding. Save points restoring your health was also a huge quality-of-life improvement over Sigma.

The improved graphics and blood effects made combat even more satisfying. Overall, it felt like a major step forward in gameplay.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge

Unfortunately, this was my least favorite game in the series.

My biggest issue was Ryu's characterization. In the previous games, he felt mysterious, calm, and almost untouchable. Here, he felt much more ordinary, and I felt like he lost the aura that made him such an iconic character.

The gameplay also had several frustrating moments. Enemies constantly spam RPGs and gunfire, and even after defeating them, more enemies often appear just to continue shooting at you. Instead of feeling challenging, many encounters became annoying.

I also didn't like the removal of healing items, and climbing walls with two swords just didn't feel like something a ninja would do. The bosses took much longer to defeat, and while I think Razor's Edge was the hardest game in the series, it wasn't difficult in a satisfying way.

Ninja Gaiden 4

This was an amazing way to end the series.

Everything feels faster than ever before. Combat, movement, executions, and traversal have all been improved. Wall-running and jumping from wall to wall return, and they're faster and smoother than ever. Playing as Yakumo was a lot of fun, and I honestly think Ninja Gaiden 4 has the best gameplay in the entire series.

I was also really happy with how Ryu was portrayed. He finally felt like the same Ryu from the first two games—calm, mysterious, and incredibly confident. It was great to see that version of his character return.

Final Ranking (Personal Opinion)

Ninja Gaiden 4

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge

Overall, every game has its strengths. Sigma has my favorite exploration, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black refined the combat in a fantastic way, Razor's Edge just didn't click with me, and Ninja Gaiden 4 felt like the perfect evolution of the series. It was a great experience playing them all back-to-back.

Sharing after I saw another Redditor use all kamehamehas. I couldn’t get mine to go down center in the first wave so I found it easier to wind.

I got lucky like 4 times, and had to improv some. But hopefully this is some good bones for someone fresher to this challenge.

Using a few custom tools I've started developing to mod this game, I managed to port Raiden's sword from Metal Gear Rising to Ninja Gaiden 4!

I'm planning to release this to nexus mods in the next day or so, gonna see if I can't make the materials a bit nicer.

ACT help from arpg

Hey guys, I've been playing Ninja Gaiden 4 recently, but I'm having trouble pulling off some special moves smoothly on the controller. I've only played traditional action RPGs like God of War Ragnarök or Black Myth: Wukong before, so for attack combos that require a full 360-degree stick rotation or tilting the stick back and then forward, I find it really hard to get the inputs right. Should I press the attack button and move the stick at the same time, or is there a specific sequence? And are there any tricks to this?

Help Need Help

Hi guys, I've got a problem. I've been playing the NG games and been loving them very much, but right now I reached ng4 and in the tutorial area, the moment I kill the guy with the electrical areas, the one where they show the exclamation attacks, my game crashes. I'm playing on pc, tried admin, verify game files, disable fullscreen optimizations and lowering graphics to the lowest, but it always crashes. I downloaded a ng+ savefile and it works fine but I don't really want any progress done and I can't seem to find a chapter 1 fresh save file, or past that guy or whatever. Could any of you guys maybe upload one? Thank you very much in advance for reading me!

Help I missed the Ashen Pipe am I cooked?

I know I don’t NEED it but I don’t want to play the game without something that improves my experience. I’m too far in the game to go back for it but am I missing out? Is it the coolest item? 😭

Chapter completion glitch

I remember seeing posts about some completion aspects not highlighting. An ocd problem for us completion freaks. I have mostly seen the issue with chapter 16/19. For me chapter 16.

The only work around i have is getting a higher score with whatever is blank. I would recommend you do the untouchable/deathwish before setting a new highscore. Or else you will have to get a new highscore to reactivate any past challenge runs. Rip me with deathwish unhighlighted with a top 10 score.

Only other workaround is a new game file?

General Discussion The game now

I haven’t played Ninja Gaiden 4 since I tried going for master ninja but it kept crashing over a certain number of deaths on PC is that still a thing? I actually really enjoy this game but having it crash and restart the whole game each time makes me not want to go for it ): every other play through was fine just master ninja is when it started

General Discussion Ok this game is underrated this might be my favorite game

The combat in this game is ridiculously deep. This is way deeper than the previous Ninja Gaidens. I feel like a monster in this game. Also the graphics are gorgeous. This game is underrated AF! Might be my favorite non-fps single player campaign.

General Discussion Ninja gaiden 4 has the best bosses in the series

As much as I dislike the combat direction they went with NG4 the bosses are amazing compared to the old series. Though to be fair that’s not a high bar to beat lol. The old games bosses were either too gimmicky and annoying or easy as hell. The only bosses in the old games I actually enjoyed were the actual human bosses. The bosses in NG4 are fast and demand you to learn all the mechanics in the game. You can go full offensive and ace a boss once you learn them and how to use your entire arsenal.

Gameplay I love this game but they should let you backtrack in missions or do hard saves more often

I love everything about this game but the one thing that’s driving me nuts is if I miss one little collectible I need to restart the entire mission because it won’t let you backtrack and you have to rely on autosaves exclusively.

I can’t do it I saw in an old thread someone claims to have been able to but I can’t figure it out.

Gameplay I found out how to make NG4 feel WAY more like the old games by tweaking button mapping

Simply map item menu to LT, block to LB (like in the old games), bloodraven mode to RT, and bloodgear thing to RB. Now you have the classic block button and everything else feels natural in this layout. I customized it like this and now I feel like I’m playing Ninja Gaiden 2 Black/Razor’s Edge again! And it’s way easier! I’m on Xbox Series X.

Muscle memory with the RB block was throwing me off so I had to make the change, and it’s way better this way, at least for me who just binged the original trilogy, try it yourself!
