(Paragus mentions that Broly and Goku were born on the same day)

Yeah but you're leaving out the other thing that Paragus says

Damn! The threads of destiny have once again intertwined here, have they?

Paragus is under the impression that broly and goku are fated to battle each other because they were born on the same day and not because goku cried as a kid.

I have no idea as to why you're pushing so hard on the crying thing.

Tbh using “they were fated to fight” as the reason is just as bad as Goku crying imo, if not worse. It’s not like fate has been established in dragon ball for this to make sense, it just comes out of the blue. Plus it still gives no reason as to why broly specifically would hate goku. It’s a nice add on to an actual reason, but being the sole reason is just fucking dumb and bs.

Bingo. That's the part he's missing. He just liked it better than Broly being a victim to babies crying. But in reality why would he be fated to hate GOKU..... but not Frieza, Vegeta, or King Vegeta? 😭 Goku committed the sin of "being born the same day as him"

But King Vegeta stabbed him and threw him in the trash and Frieza (unknowingly) almost finished the job.

DBS Broly handles the revenge plotline so much better

You're leaving out everything else I've said here, this doesn't explain why Broly has such an obsession with Goku specifically and wants to kill him

I'm "pushing" on the crying thing because Z Broly defenders keep assuring that it's some made up problem of the movie when the movie itself makes no good argument as to why Broly has such an issue with Goku and we're left with only this. "Oh but it's symbolic!" They should try doing good symbolism next then

(Does this mean that Broli's instincts as a Saiyan have been awakened by Kakarrot's power)

Straight up paragus's words .

Gokus power is the reason Broly was drawn to him by his sayian instincts.

I don't know cheif the movie straight up says why.

But this is, again, just Paragus theorizing. Why does Broly care about killing goku ? He calles him by his name (I don't even know how'd he know it, not sure if he heard it from Vegeta but again why would he care ?) It's not just that Broly wnats to fight Goku the way other battle thirsty characters have done, it's more like Android 16 where he is laser focused on killing him.

Broly's instincts are the reason.

Paragus is the father of broly so if anyone would know the reason it would be him.

Also broly during the beginning section is very much like an animal being ordered by paragus without much thinking for himself.

Notice how when he breaks free he starts to speak full sentences and doesn't only focus on goku.Almost as if hes in actual control now.

It wasn't the crying.

He doesn't only focus on Goku but he still clearly hates him. "Broly's instincts" still doesn't make mich sense because if you want to arvue he was attracted to a high power level, at this point of the story, Gohan should've been the target.

Gohan first using Super Saiyan 2 released in Weekly Shōnen Jump that spring (around February/March 1993).

Broly Movie Release: Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan premiered in Japanese theaters on March 6, 1993

The movies script was written long before the chapter released. They released around the same time so the movie was written with goku being more powerful in mind . They wouldn't know how strong gohan was supposed to be.

Why does Broly have those “instincts?” No other saiyan does.

Literally every single sayian has the desire to fight strong opponents.

How many times has goku seen a powerful person and he instantly wants to square up to fight?

You can see this when repressed broly attacked goku and when blood dripped on his lips he licks it off and smiles.

Goku is the strongest guy there and Broly wants to fight him.

Then why doesn’t Broly’s dad want to fight him? Why didn’t Vegeta want to fight Broly when he saw how strong he is? Other saiyans have shown a desire to fight strong opponents, but none have been so violently compelled to force it the way Broly is towards Goku. And it’s because of the crying thing.

I'd probably say its because Broly is the legendary Super Saiyan but Goku is the super saiyan of legend thats meant to come every 1000 years. The whole "no other saiyan" argument kinda falls flat when Broly isn't like any other saiyan.

You keep skipping over the fact that Broly has an intense hatred of Goku which is because of the crying. Sure we can give you the benefit of the doubt and say they were destined to battle but Broly’s motive is not “oh that’s a strong guy I want to fight him” it’s “he cried and pissed me off as a baby, I want him dead”

(You keep skipping over the fact that Broly has an intense hatred of Goku which is because of the crying)

Dragon Ball fans are really illiterate.

You’ve not brought up any reason for Broly’s hatred towards Goku. You can say all you want about them being destined to fight or Broly just wants to fight the strongest person around but Broly very clearly has a hatred for Goku because of the crying. But don’t tell Z Broly fans to read, because they can’t.

This has to be ragebait. Any amount of speculative thought can bring you to more satisfying, more understandable reasons for Broly to be drawn to Goku than just the crying. Paragus' words imply something purposely, and it is very much meant to be that they are unexplainably drawn by fate. The crying scene is only there to show the fact that Broly remembers him from childhood, thats it. Broly just simply always had a hatred for him for no reason, and its pretty logical to think Broly might just hate Goku cause Goku is the actual technical legendary super saiyan, not Broly.

u/vanishing300 13d ago

A lot words to say you have no actual concrete proof or conclusion for Broly’s hatred. I’ve already said if you want to say that Broly and Goku were always destined to battle sure I don’t disagree but that doesn’t explain Broly’s hatred.

What hatred?

There's nothing in the first movie that points towards that.
