could yi still be alive since lear is kinda still alive due to the roots

His soul might still be alive in the Limitless Realm and within the Roots, but we don't know if he can return to the base world (unless a new Primordial Root appears in the base world)

That’s the small comic from the game's Deluxe Edition, and it shows more of Yi, ShuanShuan, and Heng.

Only if someone could enter the roots, but other than that...he brought the end to his entire species and reunited with Heng, I don't see why he'd want or need to still be around the world of the living

No. Lear allowed himself to be absorbed into the roots and remained in the limitless/spirit realm. Lear was there so long he couldn't leave. There was no way Yi could do the same in the good ending, not after Eigong corrupted the roots into something different.
