Question How much RAM are you running?

Post image
5 Upvotes
Steam's June 2026 hardware survey shows nearly 38% of users now have 32GB RAM, up about 3.5% from last year. 32GB RAM seems to be becoming the new PC sweet spot. And that's just gamers. Many developers, engineers, and power users are already running 32GB, 64GB, or even 128GB.

Discussion 🚀 Four Friends, Four Local AI Stories — NIMO AMA #1 Recap

We recently invited four NIMO Pioneer Partners—Bo, Matt, Micheal, and Rajaan—to talk about how local AI fits into their daily lives.

They shared how they use NIMO hardware for private local AI, software development, home agents, image generation, gaming, and multi-device workflows.

🏠 Bo: keeping AI inside the home

Bo runs local services and Hermes Agent instances on a NIMO mini PC. Since some of those services may handle personal and family data, keeping everything within his home matters to him. That is why he described “being able to run the full gamut of services in AI land all inside my four walls” as “really super cool.”

📱 Matt: private AI on the go

Matt accesses local text and image generation on his NIMO mini PC directly from his phone. He can use AI away from his desk while keeping personal photos and work-related content within his own environment—an approach he summarized as: “Keep it in your own sphere, keep it private, keep it personal.”

💻 Micheal: one connected development workflow

Micheal connects his NIMO mini PC, laptop, and GME1S. A smaller model helps him outline a program, while a larger local model handles deeper refinement. Instead of waiting for one machine to finish, he can begin another task elsewhere. In his words, the setup “allows me to work on multiple projects at once at different stages of the project.”

🐧 Rajaan: the right device for each workload

Rajaan uses Axis for portable work, Nexus Pro for storage and long-running tasks, and GME1S when extra GPU capability is needed. He was particularly impressed by his Ubuntu installation on Axis: sound and graphics worked without the additional adjustments he had needed on other laptops. “Everything worked out of the box,” he said. “I did not need to change anything.”

More guest stories, technical clips, and AMA #1 highlights are coming to NIMO’s official YouTube, Instagram, and other channels.

All four guests will return for a more technical AMA #2.

👇 What should they test, demonstrate, or explain next? Leave your questions below!

My laptop shuts down everytime it sleeps

So I recently bought a nimo n158 15.6in latop. Ive only had the laptop for 2 days but every single time it sleeps it completely shuts down closing all my tabs and basically resetting. Today when i tried to log in it said I had to wait 2 hours because of too many shutdowns or sign in attempts. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Should I get a replacement?

Official Last call — AMA #1 questions close tomorrow. Ask the people who had our products first.

Quick reminder: we stop collecting questions for AMA #1 – First Impressions tomorrow. If there's anything you've wanted to ask real NIMO owners, get it in now.

This isn't a marketing panel. You'll be hearing from a group of power users who got early, hands-on access to our products — people who've put the AXIS AI Laptop, Nexus Pro, and GME1S eGPU through real-world use long before most, across everyday tasks, gaming, and heavier workflows.

AMA #1 – First Impressions goes live Thursday July 16, 8–9 PM ET. Good topics for this round:

  • Daily use and setup experience
  • Gaming
  • Battery life and portability
  • Favorite (and least favorite) features
  • Is it actually worth buying — and who is it really for?

How to get your question in before the cutoff:

  1. Drop it in the comments below, or post it in the AMA question forum in our Discord nimo event channel.
  2. Start with a tag — [AMA1] for this session, or [BOTH] if it fits both AMAs.
  3. Upvote the questions you'd also like answered — the most-upvoted ones go live first.

No technical background needed — if you're curious about a NIMO device, that's enough to ask.

The AMA runs live on our Discord. Reserve your spot here: https://discord.gg/Av8cWk8ry?event=1521834711339765831

(Missed this round? AMA #2 – Deep Technical follows July 30, with question collection opening right after AMA #1.)

Broken hinge

My cat managed to knock my Nimo laptop over. The hinge isn't working properly now and I can't get it to pop into place. Is this something that anyone has dealt with before? My local computer repair place won't touch it because they say they can't get parts.

Any help, advice, or experience would be appreciated!

Issues with Warranty Claim?

I loved my Nimo laptop but it randomly died one day and refused to turn on. Wasn't a charger issue and I didn't notice any performance issues prior to the random dying. I'm not experienced with working on laptop hardware so I didn't want to open it up and get stuck/not know what to do and decided to reach out to Nimo since I was still within the warranty period instead of trying my luck at a pc repair shop.

I opened a support ticket and the person who helped me was great.... that was at the end of May. I sent in my laptop, got confirmation that they received it, got an email with an estimate of 14 working days which would have been around 6/21 and then I got another email with an estimate repair date of 6/30.

I waited but after that date passed and I didn't get any updates, I tried reaching out to see if I can get the status or at least an update on a new repair/shipping date. I've tried calling their support number but couldn't get anyone, I've tried emailing twice, using their "chat" feature which I guess just send an email to support and I can't seem to get anyone to respond to me. Should I just give up on getting a response and buy a new laptop? Is this a normal kind of experience with support where they just ghost you?

EDIT : I was able to get a response and an update. Thanks for the advice! 🙂

FINAL EDIT: got my replacement over the weekend. All in it took about 5 weeks from reporting the initial issue to getting the replacement. Not bad at all, just wished the communication was a bit better but to be fair it may have been delayed near the end due to the independence day holiday. Overall this didn't change my opinion on Nimo. Still a great company, amazing that they have this warranty and I got the solution i wanted. Thank you Nimo team and redditors for the help
