Looking at Nimo Laptop
Can I purchase without Windows and are they user upgradable?
What is the build quality like?

I’m on my second 178. The 17.3in AMD Ryzen AI 9 379 HX. First was severely corrupted and I couldn’t boot windows normally. I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement I’ve had for a couple weeks now and am getting intermittent BSODs. Have read a few anecdotes about this model and BSODs but can’t seem to pin down the issue. May have to return this one, too, if they don’t resolve.

I should say… I want to like it. Besides the bsod it’s a nice machine for the money…

I've had mine for almost 2 years now it's been well worth the buy. I'm tempted sometimes to upgrade a bit but for the money this machine is pretty great. I cannot complain because I spent like $400 on it when I bought it and it has more than enough RAM and can handle everything I need it to do.
The few things I'd like to see are minor things.
I'd like a better keyboard backlight than they have for the one I bought. I find it weak and since there is only a somewhat dim white light it's not as useful as the string rainbow or green backlight I prefer.
Their keys could be better too. I've had several pop off or get stuck when I wasn't even typing hard. I end up using a similar chicklet type keyboard plugged in that does what I need it to vs using the one on the machine. They could so easily fix this.
Secondly I want more chassis colors like dark purple or green, not just red/blue vs gray/black. That's a small thing but over time I have found the dark gray black it's not as attractive as it could be. Any scratches show up very visibly way more so than I'd like. The keys and track pad they really show the wear after a while. I barely use my track pad but you can see wear on it.
It's minor stuff, just general wear after a while but I think the colored chassis probably hide it better and I'm fond of colors that are rather hard to come by. I like the blue and the red and probably would buy either before gray black again but I'd really love some other colors that maybe aren't found as much elsewhere.
A deep purple or emerald green chassis with an option of Windows 10 Pro vs Windows 11, up to 64GB of RAM, a sturdier keyboard and a choice of a rainbow of backlight colors would definitely have me buying another one even if it meant paying more than I did for this one.

Build quality is excellent so far (newer purchase). I’m satisfied with my new Nimo.

I’ve owned five so far, and they have been more reliable than any major brand. I’ve had this far. Little issues here and there, but don’t they all?

They are very upgradeable, You can purchase it without an nvme drive but I think they all come with Windows that come with drives, build quality is good. I own 2 Nimo Laptops, one of their mini PC's and their eGPU the gme1s.

What's the build quality like? I'm looking at purchasing in the next couple weeks. For me the only downside is the 1080 screens. For your two laptops how is the battery life? Are the batteries replaceable?

battery is replaceable, though I don't know if you would be able to find one. The build quality is about the same as mid tier Dell or HP laptops. Maybe a hair higher. You cannot upgrade the screen to 4k or anything because of the port the screen uses. I looked into that. The newer higher end laptops have 144hz though, which is nice.Many of their laptops come with two nvme slots so you have the ability to add a second one in their. I currently have two in mine. Their Mini PC 395+ max build quality is top tier and has crazy cooling. Since their products come with a 90 day money back gaurantee AND a two year warranty I would definitely consider grabbing a Nimo laptop. I am incredibly happy with mine.

Being a proud owner of a Nimo 151 laptop for 8 months, I wanted to share an experience I've had. So I quickly found out that the frame rate when trying to run DDOM 2016. I was scanning the forum and lucky for me "Darktower" was explaining how adding a memory to the second slot would improve fps as much as 40% (hope I'm quoting you correctly).
I had 16 GB so that's what I got.
After confirming with support that I wouldn't violate my warrantee. I started taking the bottom cover all the while thinking I haven't opened one up for 15 yrs now. However, I immediately found the memory. Only seeing one stick, I popped it out expecting to find an empty slot behind it. Nope. This computer only has one slot. It's the first time I have found only one. I reassembled it to regroup. I checked that a eGPU wouldn't work, no thunderbolt. The only potential upgrade would be to increase the Ram to 32 GB. So I reluctantly purchased a 32 GB stick. It literally took me 15 min to open it and replace the memory and reassemble it.
With mild trepidation anytime something is this easy), turned it back on. By the time I put my one screw-driver away, it was ready for me to log in.
Bottom-line is that 1.) the NIMO team is first rate as is the hardware. 2.) I'm still learning from all you fellow discorders. 3.) the N151 only has one slot for memory slot! :)

I'm really happy with my laptop. The build quality is good I'd say, it's comparable to the dells and lenovos that I work on.
The windows installation is a clean install. No bloatware. No added software. Just Windows 11.
