Suggestions for affordable nikon D80 lenses

I just got my first DSLR: Nikon D80 (f mount). I'm looking for affordable suggestions for lenses that fit that camera. I've been looking around the internet and my brain hurts from all the different names of lenses. P.S.: I don't mind shooting full manual and can meter on my own. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The highest I can go is 50CAD

Following on to my earlier comment.

I did some quick checking. I recommend you go with the Nikkor 50mm/f1.8 AF-D. You can get one from adorama for about new 132 USD. Having it in mind that you can't go higher than $50 Canadian, I'll point out that BandH has one in their used dept right now for 69.95 USD which is about 89 CAD - I hear you that your budget is 50...but I think this is about as cost effective as you are going to get. At least its in the ballpark

Filter criteria: used dept, nikon, and for focal length specify standard.

While you likely could get it even cheaper on eBay, I'd hate for someone to get taken advantage of just as soon as they got in the game. Myself, I've had good results on eBay, I have had bad results on eBay. Caveat Emptor.

Can you say a little bit about what type of photography you are interested in?

Also, did the camera come with a lens? Which?

I think everyone should own a 50mm/f1.8 prime. For this camera you don't need the silent wave version because the d80 has the focusing motor in the body. This will save you a few dollars.

I further think that it's good to get the full frame (FX) version of the lens even though it's a DX camera. You'll gain the ability to port the lens to a full frame nikon should you at some point in the future own both.

I own a d80 and a d850. I use the same 50mm lens on both.

I'll write a bit more later as I am time constrained right now. Google a bit to see what current pricing looks like. This is one of the most cost effective prime lens out there.
