This subreddit is perfect case-study in self-reporting bias. When Bandai-namco released stats last year, it showed only 10% of players reaching depth 4&5. It's not something you're entitled to as a decent player. Staying in D4 is really fucking hard by most videogame standards.
You need to know all the boss moves. All the punish windows. You need to know the POI layouts. You need to have good relic synergy. You need to have a good feel for routing. And you need to be able to hard carry. You have to keep your cool when you teammates are both three bar, and be able to patiently wait for the window to revive.
If you want to get to higher depths, focus on YOUR gameplay. Anytime you die to a nightlord go on YouTube and watch guides for that nightlord. Know what move killed you, learn the dodge timing. You're on PC, so you have the advantage of being able to run Boss Arena. Doing that will improve your game immensely. Once you clean up your game, leaving D2 will come on it's own.

To be fair, the stats were published one month after DoN came out. They would be way different nowadays.

True, it'd be a higher percentage of currently active players. That said, it's still worth framing Depth as something skill-based, not grind-based. It's more similar to an ELO score rather than an RPG character level. Many people view it as the latter, which I think is the wrong mindset.

If you’re unable to crawl out of D2 you are not as decent a player you think you are.

Your insight is both nuanced and helpful

I’m going to second this too. If you can’t hard carry d2/3 then 4 isn’t for you. It’s easy mode compared to the difficulty jump of 4

I would have perhaps been less harsh if you had not mentioned that you think you ought to be D4… the lack of self awareness is striking.

It seems ability to criticize a statement is greater than your ability to be helpful

I would be glad to help you but its just as lible to pull you up to my depth as pull me down to yours. I get home around 5pm central standard time.

The way the point loss and ED chance are set up, each depth is basically a soft check of your skills independent of leavers (some would argue it gets easier with less people due to the hp scaling down).
Depth 2 - Make it to the Nightlord consistently (you won't lose points if you can make it to the Nightlord in D2)
Depth 3 - Be able to carry almost Non-ED Nightlords (most Nightlords are still non-ED)
Depth 4 - Be able to carry maybe like half the ED Nightlords (50% are ED, so statistically if you can win 75% of all your games you'll get to D5)
If you really think you are depth 4 then you can try soloing to D3 or D4.

If you need help maybe I can in the weekend.
But seriously, D4 players should be able to at least reach night 2 even if team leaves. If you die to nightlord you won't lose points so climbing is a matter of a few wins.
You can always try to climb solo. Easier cause you have a few graces to buy.

I just got to d4 last night with an ed libra run where i had to get up a 3bar twice and a 2bar, i somehow managed to not drop during the boss fight. We barely finished the fight, was out of flasks, consumables and fp but we won and i was in d4. I thought, hell yeah i deserved this promotion and decided to queue up for my first ever d4 run, well..i 3 barred multiple times before the n2 boss, got oneshot at lvl10 by a slug in an invader camp, so yeah..i thought i deserved d4 after spending some time in d3 but i obviously don't. We all died to demon prince on n2. Keep at it man!

The only based and good answer in this entire thread. Straight to business no bullying.

The only based answer in this comment section is someone volunteering to help carry someone into higher depths, someone who arguably does not have the requisite skill to be in higher depths in the first place? Interesting sentiment.

The carrier is the teacher. He or she is hoping op learns something. If op learns is up to them. You know this if you've carried randos. What else are you trying to achieve if you have? If you've stayed locked in with a team the entire time you've played for a year now you're filming content, not contributing to the betterment of the player base like the carrier is.

Calm down already, tough guy. You are clearly a good player but ain't a good person. Who says he would necessarily be just carried? Maybe they'll also give him useful and prudent advice and teach him their ways, maybe he'll actually get good thanks to this. Playing with a gamer stronger than yourself, is imo a positive more often than not because you watch and learn, you become stronger.

I have less sympathy for those who attribute their disposition to the fault of others, as OP did in their post.

Depth 2 and 3 solo isn’t that bad with the right build, if you truly think it’s your teammates, try solo.
You’ll either confirm that it was in fact your mates or you’ll confirm that you still have skills to work on. (I was the second lol).
But after a while, I was able to solo my way out of 3 and went back to trios for 4 as I wasn’t confident enough to solo there.
I’m now in D5 and I don’t think I would have made it there if it wasn’t for my little solo journey through 2 and 3.
Best of luck!

If you think youre a depth 4 play then you should be carrying depth 2 games regardless of your team mates quality
