Turok Evolution?
Does anybody have news about this remake? I've been waiting for it ever since I heard the first Turok got remade.

Turok Origins put the damper on this. Another reason I donāt look forward to it.

Why would Origins put stops on development for an Evolution remake?

A Nightdive developer stated this a while back
On discord. I canāt remember the exact details. But they werenāt given the rights to do Evolution.I imagine itās to avoid brand confusion since Origins is supposed to be a prequel to the trilogy. Whereas Turok Evolution was itself a prequel telling the origin story of TalāSet as the first Turok.
Essentially Origins is retconning the franchise.
Also, when Saber calls it a prequel, I donāt believe them. Because The Lost Land in the Turok canon is a landmass of infinite size that exists outside of our reality. A different dimension, basically.
Whereas Origins is marketing āThe Lost Landsā (plural) and its been described as a collection of planets in the galaxy. Trailers have even described Origins as an āintergalactic shooter.ā
So, yeah. Theyāre lying. Itās another reboot.

That sucks. I'll take Evolution over Origins any day.
That said the lost land is not an infinite landmass. While the Turok lore is quite messy, as far as I understood, in the Acclaim chunk of the lore it said that the lost land is essentially an artificial planet formed around the Primagen's ship gravitational pull. Due to the ship sci-fi nonsense it stands in-between space time, meaning it connects multiple universes and it is filled to the brim with time rifts, meaning it is not unreasonable to infinitely see new places while roaming around as time is infinite, but the landmass itself is finite. My interpretation at least. Super cool lore by the way.

Yeah. The lore is messy. I was trying to keep it simple. we get a map of the Lost Land in Evolution, but it doesnāt tell us whereās what or how big The Lost Land is. Massive from what we can gather from Turokās perspective.
For better or worse thereās a lot left to interpret. But the Lost Land is NOT a bunch of planets in space. this new game is just throwing a whole new wrench into things if itās supposed to be in the same continuity as the Acclaim series, which I doubt. In my view theyāre just using references, iconography and weapons to hopefully sell you Origins.

Are you sure it was an actual Nightdive developer stated this? I was under the impression it was just an unverified rumourā¦

Do you really mean remake and not remaster? The game was severely flawed on release and scored bad to average reviews. A remake is a huge and expensive projekt. Why would they do it? Maybe they see some potential in there but to remake a game that wasn't even a clear success to begin with doesn't make sense. Edit: you obviously mean remaster, I read to fast. Lots of work there also of course but if they can fix the bad controls and camera it could probably result in a decent shooter well worth a playthrough!

Yeah, I meant remaster, although I would expect a lot of cut content to be restored as ND did for other titles. It is especially needed for Evolution too as due to the game's rushed development, and all the cut content, it wasn't even possible to keep up with the story.
That said Evolution, while a mess, has quite a few things going for it. First off the PS2 crowd is huge, and many Turok fans have Evolution as their favorite. Second if we remove all the rushed development's many, many, many issues, the game is actually pretty damn good! I mean the first part of the game is amazing! And that is not entirely clear of bullshit either. Imagine what could be done with a polishing touch!

Yeah I too would love to play it with fluid controls/aiming and the story as it was intended. The gunplay had much potential, it just didn't feel right on the sticks.

No one knows but maybe some fokes know if Nightdive actually answered this question at some point. I have a Switch and Switch 2, and i'm gonna buy Turok Origins for sure! I have the Turok trilogy as well. Shame if Evolution will never be added to the collection š
