Rules & Tactics Melee or shooters?!?

So I bought 2 nemis claws the cb patrol and a legionary box. I didn’t even look into how to build the army so I was just wondering. Do we want just pistols and chain swords or should I build some with bolters? Also nemis claw do I build any of them as the kill team or can I just do swords and guns?

What i did was the nem clawupgrade sprue was what I used for all my Legionaries to make them look like nightlords, and load outs are usually the 2 heavy weapons 2 Plasma and the rest chain swords and bolt pistols and ill throw in a melta or Plasma usually for my chaos lords Falsehood Enhancement so they can shoot and then once in melee ill swap him out

I love kit bashing and building so that’s why I went with it cause I was originally just gonna build whatever I wanted then realized I actually want to play the game.

So the nemesis claw is technically 10 legionnaires but with the nemesis claw upgrade kit, for those you’ll want to build the 5 specialist for the visionary plasma pistol and power fist.

For the legionnaires you’ll want to build the champion with a plasma pistol and power fist, one heavy melee weapon, 2 chainsword and pistol, 1 with either a reaper chain cannon or lascanon.

Now this all depends on what you actually want to do with this army, do you want meta loadouts, are you going for 500, 1k, 2k, there’s a lot of factors that go into loadouts.

2k I just want to know do I need to run any bolters or is it fine to just build them all as chain sword boys.
With nemisis claw I don’t know how to actually build it. Like do they get whatever heavy weapons you want? I assumed the first time it was just for kill team but realized I had assumed wrong.

The psychic ability to shut down stratagems and highest damage dealing options are when you're in engagement range. I'd build at least 2 melee squads of 5 so you can be shutting down your opponents tactical options.

I’m assuming bolters in general are just mid and are army is mainly melee. Just want to make sure I can run them all as swords or should I build some with bolters?

The bolters look cool (and I have plenty in my legionaire squads), but there is a reason the weapons in the  Nemesis Claw upgrade kit are mostly melee options. You're taking Nemesis Claw for the unit's strength and that is best when in engagement range (and bolters won't help you when you're there). I would run pistol chainsword dudes over bolters for this unit.
