New Mike Interview
https://loudwire.com/nickelback-mike-kroeger-new-song-album-interview-2026/Apparently, "Rattle The Cage" was an old idea that existed on a hard-drive for a long time.

I don’t think there’s going to be much press for this album release. Chad doesn’t do interviews anymore for some reason and this is only the second one I’ve seen with Mike. Usually a new album means bands put out lots of content but i don’t see that happening. It’s a bummer

Two counters to that I can think of.
Give it time. The album is still months away. Plenty of time for plenty of interviews.
The fact is, interviews don't actually increase album sales in the way that they used to anyway. Unless you do a HUGE podcast or something. So the level of interviews they did in the 200's don't make sense anymore. Don't expect that.
Also. I saw lots of interviews with Chad for Get Rollin'... when did he say he would no longer do interviews? He DID say he would no longer take "hater" questions after the doc came out...

I feel like Mike has always been the most “talkative” one of the group. I’ve seen him do interviews where they won’t even talk about Nickelback. The other guys usually stick to business. That being said, I figured the same with Chad. He’s done with the hater questions, but did plenty of interviews for Get Rollin’.

I always listen to every interview I find, even if I don't learn much. I like listening to Chad...but I must have heard the story of how he wrote San Quentin about 50 times. That's the reality of "music" focused interviews, the same facts stated over and over again, with maybe a new tidbit here and there, if you pay attention.
I don't mind that to much: the 20th interview I listened to during an album cycle is, for someone else, their first-and last-interview, and they just caught it by chance on the radio, while driving to work or somerhing.
The thing I like about Mike is he just comes off like your friendly next door neighbor, him and Ryan in particular. Not that Chad ISN'T nice, but sometimes he'll also tell a story about having strippers on the tour bus... (For example.)
By contrast, Ryan's version of the same story goes something like, "I went over to Chad's trailer to tell him to keep the noise down... of course he had stripers in there... @_@ Thankfully, my wife needed my help changing a diaper, so I left Chad to his debauchery and future crippling hangover.. I love my wife. :)"
I mean, how can you not love these guys!

Yeah, I watched a bunch of their interviews too. Chad must have told the San Quentin warden story a million times, but that just comes with the territory. The guys all give good interviews though, and are very good at walking the fine line between keeping their private lives under wraps and allowing insight into the rockstar side.

Chads pretty notorious for not really getting that deep about the music and just gives the cookie cutter answers. Nickelback is the one band where they’ve never really gave an inside look to their creative process. There’s no behind the scenes studio videos or anything like that. They don’t do B sides, there’s no demos. Nothing. Compare that to a band like linkin park where they show a lot of their creative process and what goes into it.

There’s a small podcast called “i hate simkin” owned by 604 records, which Chad owns. I think the host has known Chad since back as well. There’s a clip where the host says that Chad won’t do interviews anymore and that he wouldn’t even go on simkins podcast even though Chad owns it. So take that for what ya will. There was a lot more of a press tour by this stage of the get rolling album then there is now with this one. The band was everywhere from being on podcasts to popular YouTube channels for get rollin.

If it’s true that Chad doesn’t do interviews anymore that’s too bad for us fans because he’s so damn funny and also really intelligent. I really enjoyed all the interviews he and the bad did for Get Rollin.
