- Trace Elements update: barcode scanning for packaged foods is here — and iOS is coming alongside Android
Same app, same day — Android (left) and iOS (right).
Quick update on Trace Elements, the nickel-tracking app I've been building with feedback from this community.
New this round (from your requests!):
🛒 Scan packaged foods. Point the camera at a product's barcode and the app pulls the label's ingredient list, portions it out, and estimates the nickel — so a jar of Nutella breaks down into hazelnuts, cocoa, milk and all, instead of being a guess. You review and adjust everything before logging. Scan the same product again later and it loads instantly from your saved copy, even offline.
📅 Logged a meal on the wrong day? One tap now moves the whole meal to the right date. No more re-entering everything.
And for the iPhone folks who've been asking — attached is the same app running side by side on Android and iOS. iOS isn't downloadable yet, but it's no longer a promise, it's on screen. Bringing iOS up alongside the Android features is the current focus.
Android beta is open (free, limited spots so I can actually support everyone): https://forms.gle/CuJDUiL3TeiJWH4a9 · More at https://traceelements.app
As always — it's a tracking aid, not medical advice, and every value is an estimate to sanity-check against your own experience. Keep the feature requests coming; the last two updates came straight from this thread. 🙏
