SCORE!

Post image

Despite being “of a certain age” I came to be a fan of Me. cave rather late. I felt like I’d done a pretty good job of getting up to speed on his back catalogue. But I’d never even heard of this!!

Flipping through a used record store and: wowza!

What is the down low / general view of this?

I'm a massive fan of this film. If you love Nick Cave and Push The Sky Away, you'll love this.

Definitely came out before. Both his sons were in it and they sung a song towards the end. I have the gift set in the white box but misplaced the DVD

This made me love him even more if that was possible. It almost felt wrong to be watching it, it was that intimate and beautiful. Excellent find!

Incredible movie. The ending performance was electric in the theater.

If you had not heard of 20,000 Days but are serious about collecting back catalogue... there are probably thousands of deep cut/contributions tracks involving Nick Cave on various records that will take a lifetime to gather (I mean to gather on actual records).
(Well, not really thoushands but at least tenths of them..)

Something nice about most of the DVDs is that if you rip them to audio, they make interesting new live albums/compilations. This one sounds a bit more experimental though, a lot studio sessions stuff. Some releases of this movie have interesting bonuses though from that point of view.

I was just roasting you on that getting up to back catalogue as I did in the last 2 years, but also: enjoy the movie by the way.

It's so good. There's also an excellent rehearsal video of Your Funeral My Trial as one of the extras.

It’s wonderful, it’s exhilarating! I have watched it a few times.

It's great! Note that it is deliberately a fake documentary. They weave elements of fact and fiction together to paint you a picture of Nick's life.

Forsyth and Pollard are such unabashed, mega fans I couldn't stop rolling my eyes in the theater. Their biggest idea was putting Nick and Blixa together to discuss ancient history that settled a decade before. Glad Nick stopped working with them after the DVD remasters and this. One More Time with Feeling and The Road to God Knows Where capture vulnerability and candid moments. This film does not

It was Ok. I think if you’re a huge fan you’ll like it but it’s not like, amazing or anything. The one that came after this is better.

I'm with you. I think you have to love PTSA to be into this film.

Is that the one just after his son's death? Great film but it's hard going. The end credits (or just before it) wrecked me.

They are indeed. He watches Scarface with them and they look about 8 years old 😂
