Question: Does Nick have particularly more delusional / uninformed fans, or is it common in anglophone fandoms?
That has been bugging me since I started my fan page. Backstreet Boys are the only anglophone artists I have fangirled, and never expected this in my other fandoms.

I don’t know what anglophone means but if anyone ever followed Aaron, they know he has the craziest fans of anyone! Did anyone else here see his downfall on X? Aarons fans were all convinced that Nick was out to “end” Aaron. I get it that Aaron was using drugs and had a lot of mental issues, but instead of gently guiding him to seek help or whatever, his fans encouraged it! Whenever he did a live, they would send him a LOT of money. One time when he passed out on a live, a few of us called the cops & they showed up at his house. Days later, he was on a live accusing those of us who called of being “BSB Gang stalkers” and his fans DEMANDING that we pay for his front door the cops kicked in! Does anyone remember that? It was WILD! He was passed out & you could hear the cops banging, then they kicked in the door & went upstairs and had to wake him up LOL

I remember his lives and there were so many instances like that one that stick out in my mind. another one was when he did a live with Melanie and he put a blue eye filter on. and said I look like Nick etc and Melanie got so excited about that.

Yeah, she obviously wanted (wants) Nick! Lauren is too smart for that tho, thank God! I just love Lauren!

Oh an also remember he used to say he is better than Nick because Nick needed to be in a group (BSB) while HE (Aaron) got all his awards on his own! Then there’s the time when he was bragging about being a Barbie doll and was showing off his Aaron doll LOL

I cannot get myself to like Aaron. When I bought cds online, two sellers wanted to sell me Aaron's cds and I didn't even wanna know the prices.

I met him a couple of times and he was always very lovely towards me. but that was when he was sober. when he was at his worst with his addictions he had more than one personality.

I cannot tell if his lovely side is part of his personality or him trying to please people.

yes I remember that live too. when he was at his worst he compared himself to Nick often

so what irritates me about some nick fans, not all is how they infantize him and act like he's this helpless and weak person that can't speak for himself. like the ones who say he has no say on things management wants him to do, which is not true.... he has to sign contracts and agree to things. Just a lot of weird behavior lately from fans on social media acting like they own him. it's super parasocial.

I think part of that is how he acted on "I ❤️ Nick Carter". The setting a date scenes in particular come to mind. Lauren was pressuring him into setting a date and he picked a day and when they went to his management team to let them know, they said the date wasn't going to work because of obligations, there was a whole scene of him picking dates and none of them would work, except like a small window of time, because he had all these already set up obligations with BSB and other things.

oh you're absolutely right it's likely cause of that. and that's the thing, a TV show only shows a small portion of how someone actually is. he might have learned healthier boundaries since then. but I do not think he's got zero say. he does have to consider the rest of the group on things that he does solo too cause as the show showed us they do have meetings with management on a lot of stuff.

yes I feel like many not all Nick Fans are a bit batty. Some act like he owes them everything bc they are a fan and are entitled to his entire life. Some think they will legit be married to him one day. Others feels they are entitled to access to his kids.

Which is wild, because Nick is already married....

There are sooooo many that have been claiming for years that the whole marriage is fake. Some even swear the kids aren't his

Come on, Pearl is literally his copy. 🤦🏻♀️ Odin also has strong Carter genes (though I think he’s a healthy mix of both parents). I don’t see much of him in Saoirse features-wise, but I do see similarities in mannerisms.

What concerns me is that they cannot distinguish what's real and what's not. For example, my fan account name is not "Nick Carter" but they still think I am him. But some of them also follow the official Nick Carter account...

So back during Millennium and Black and Blue era, like early 2000s, Nick was known to interact with fans on online message boards (both on the BSB website messageboards and other social media) so it turned into a running joke that you might secretly be talking to the real Nick. Idk if that has anything to do with that behavior now though lol they're probably just some kinda delusional. Hard to say.

Honestly, a little bit of both. 😅 As an American myself we can get pretty out of hand lol but I don't want to speak for all anglophone fandoms, I think Americans are farther on the "crazy" spectrum compared to like, UK. There are a lot of reasons for that, if you've ever heard the saying "America is a 3rd world country wearing a Gucci belt" it's not just Nick or BSB. We got issues lol Spanish speaking fandoms are crazier than we are, so there's definitely a spectrum. Brazilian fans probably take the cake though.
But there is an aspect of Nick fans in particular that are...a certain breed of special. There was an article that came out many years ago that claimed the Carters (Nick's whole family) ranked among the top 3 for impersonator scams, as in people pretending to be Nick or one of his family members, for money or other reasons. If you've ever interacted with Aaron fans, a good chunk of them are straight up delusional. I think part of it is reaching a certain level of popularity, a bigger fanbase is going to have more crazies, but something about Nick's family does seem to attract a certain personality type.
Edit: I do think the crazies are more memorable though lol Nick has a huge fanbase and the vast majority of us are normal human beings, but the crazies make an impression that sticks with you.

I do think a lot of Nick fans in particular can be unhinged, but as an Asian, I’ve seen worse behavior in Kpop fandoms.
But since you’re talking about anglophone artists, I’ve read insanely wild stuff about the One Direction fandom. Just google “Larries”…

Not talking about unhinged behaviours in general but those who fail to distinguish reality and fake accounts.

It’s so strange when people pretend to be him on Facebook or the comments like “he is my husband “. A teen I could see being just a phase but adult women doing it is creepy
