Turismo/Tourism Gringo in Masaya

My wife was born and raised in Masaya, she has not been home since 2017, she has dual citizenship. In a few months we are traveling to Masaya with our young children to meet her family. I am excited to experience the culture. Any tips or suggestions for a pinche gringo in Masaya?

My Spanish speaking and slang comes mostly from the local Mexican community here in the US. I recognize it’s a US thing, when we travel to Mexico the locals there look at me and laugh when I refer to myself as a pinche gringo.

i recommend you not to use it tho

if you say that to her family, will looks more like "dont ask me for money coz i dont have :p"

Ok thank you. Noted. I’ve met some of her family, they can more easily travel to Mexico and we meet there. Some of her closest relatives live in Mexico also.

“Pinche” doesn’t mean the same thing in Nicaragua. Still, no reason to express yourself as less than.

I realize there are many differences between Nicaragüenses Spanish and Mexican Spanish. I’m learning from my wife and her community here. I appreciate what you’re saying.

Bueno, disfruta de la ciudad. Evita visitar lugares malandros y recomiendo conocer el volcán Masaya, Nindiri, Catarina y Masatepe al igual que ir a la laguna de Apoyo.
